400ex carb on 300ex??
#1
I was wondering if a 400ex carb will mate right up with the 300ex air boots? Is it easy to make fit? I just want to know before I get a carb and it doent fit without spending more money on an adapter kit.

Yes, it will bolt right up, but unless you have put a very free flowing intake and exhaust on, and have modded the motor, there is no need for a bigger carb on a 282 cc motor, it runs fine with the stocker. You might gain a little top end,but you will lose bottom end response, and it will have to be set up to run with the smaller motor. Now if you do the big bore kit and have a race exhaust and intake, then it would work fine for that.

Thanks man. I do a K&N with a full powercore 4, port and pollish, but the downside is that I'm running a 282cc wiesco 12:1.... I'm looking to get a 330 big bore this winter during the off season, should I just wait till then?

I would definately wait for the big bore kit, then that carb will be just the ticket to get all the power out of your engine work and add ons.

Would a rev box help with getting out all the avalible top end power? And anyways, what would give my quad more top end? Bigger bore with a shorter stroke? or the other way around? Cause a stroker kit is within my price range too.

Definately get the +1000 rev box, just opening up the air box, and adding a pipe to my son's stock 300ex made it rev so much better, it actually seemed to lose speed and power, because it revved so freely, it hit the limit almost every gear, and top end was lousy, bouncing off the limit and sputtering. It was like a different quad with the new +1000 cdi. One of the reasons for Honda's "reliablility" is the stingey rev limit, can't wear a quad out if you won't let it rev !!!

Very very true! lol! I found some more topend with a stock rev box, cut all the little fins out of the air box and leave the cover on, lots more power... Well other than all the stuff that has already been talked about, the only thing I really need is a swing arm! lol. well thanks for the input, I got some $$$ to spend and thanks for directing me to spending it right!
