carb problems
I have a 06 Kawasaki 400 that I bought used. I put a fresh top end and cleaned the carb and took it out and rode it and it was great the next day I had a hard time starting and then it died in the woods. towed it back and found that it would only start and run with the choke on. I have gone thru the carb 3 times and still have gotten no were my thoughts are it is getting too much gas because when I push the throttle it dies. any one got any ideas

if you push the throttle and it bogs down and dies, your carb is still dirty. clean the jets thoroughly. blow air through them, clean again, check for daylight in the orifices. check your float operation. check all nooks, crannies, and channels. if it bogs, you still have dirty issues with the jets.......sorry, it's got to be as clean as factory. trust me, i've had the same problems and that's what works for me.....
p.s. i use an oxy/acetylene torch tip cleaning tool pack to clean my jets.....if it's any consolation, i've cleaned the same carb as much as 6 times in one setting to get it clean. hang in there!
here's a sticky hyperlink that'll help you.

Be sure to blast some spray carb cleaner through all the passages and every little hole in the throat of the carb.
If it only runs with the choke on, and bogs when you apply throttle it is likely starving for fuel. Make sure the float level is right, and if it has a fuel filter screen on the petcock, make sure to clean that.
