Question New to quads, please help

A couple days ago I was riding my quad (150cc automatic) and I wanted to see how fast it could get up to so I decided to just press the gas all the way and enjoy the ride. When I did this it did a popping noise, I believe it was backfiring. After that had happened I immediately started losing momentum and jerking a lot. The next day when I started it up, I pressed the gas down to start riding and it immediately died, i turned it back on and tried again, same thing happened, then I started it and let it idle for a minute, and it died without me hitting gas, so I did this again and let it idle for 20 seconds, gave a little gas and then we were good to go, but the backfiring still occurs and the jerking. Also the backfiring occurs when i accelerate.

Also check your wiring connectors. Those are notorious for shaking loose or having a wire come out of a connector. I have taped most of mine.

That backfiring is telling you that it is wounded. If the plug and wiring is good to go, you may have burned a piston. That popping is caused by a lean condition and that generates heat big time. Timing is usually the culprit. I would push it on the trailer and take it to the dealer post haste before you have a catastophic failure and it costs you way more than you can believe.
