There are a lot of decent enclosed trailers out there. Probably your best value will be if you can find one that is manufactured near where you live.
Definately tandem axle for hauling three quads. Tandem will distrubute weight better, track better and can evenhandle a blowout without it being a diaster. Enclosed trailers are like pulling a giant box or sail - you are much better off with a tandem.
A tandem 16' should run you around 4K +.

Just purchased a 7 x 16 Herculers Homesteader Enclosed Trailer for $4,600. Extras that added to the cost was a radial spare tire & wheel, 36" side door with flush lock (can lock from the inside), roof vent, flow through vents, stoneguard, ramp door, and extra light inside, plus non standard color. Trailer is built on 16" ribs, has tall headroom, torflex axles, radial tires, and brakes on all four wheels are standard equipment for this model.

man, those prices are killing me. I'm looking for a 7x14 tandem with ramps and a side door in New England. About the best I've seen is $6500 - Thule (formerly snopro / cargopro). Anyone have experience with snopro?
Also, recommendations for trailer dealers in New England? at this price, I may just go with a featherlite or triton open aluminum in 6.5x12...
