What size trailer to buy?
#1
I have a 01 Raptor and just bought the wife a new Scrambler 500 HO 4x4. I am going to buy a trailer and just hall both of them on the trailer. What size trailer do I need. Would preferably like to pull them straight in, and the other straight behind it. I know NOTHING about trailers so your help is greatly appreciated. What would be a fair price and anything to look for? Thx alot guys.

The most basic ones (with the most basic price) will be a single axle with a 12' to 14' deck. You'd load end to end - 12' will work but 14 or 16' will give you a little extra room to tie down without bumping into the other quad. Many like this have a ramp attached to the back. You should be able to find them new at a variety of places with prices running from $600 to just under $1,000. Trailer supplies, even WalMart are some sources. Used will probably go from $400 to $600 or so. Some have pressure treated wood plank decks and others have open steel weave. You are looking at about 1,200 pounds of quads and another 500 for a steel trailer - most mid-size cars and small trucks can haul that.
Try to find a trailer with larger diameter wheels rather than the little 12" tires.

I just bought an Aluma(model A848) aluminum trailer-website is www.alumaklm.com. This one also loads from the side and the bed is is 7' wide by 8.5' long. Aluminum trailers are lighter and in theory will not rust. I paid $1325 for mine. If you want to load end to end, you will need a trailer with at least a 12' long bed.
