1992 chevy silverado towing capablities?!?!
i have a 1992 k1500 4wd silverado with a 5 speed manual trans, and a 5.0 305ci engine, this spring break we are goin to bull gap, i was wondering if anyone has ever towed with the 5.0 liter engine and what kinda of mileage i would be getting, and is there any precautions i should take being that it is a manual transmission????? thanks kyle.

Max towing probably is in the 5-6K pound range. Depending on tires, rear gear, etc.
With the manual the ony thing you have to worry about really is trying to take off on a grade, but it probably won't be an issue.

your truck will pull this without problem, just use common sense and watch your temp gauge try not to lug the engine in the hills. watch the road ahead and if you see a hill coming up gas on it and get some speed before you get to the hill, that way when you top the hill your not down in third gear running 45 mph. i sold my 96 siverado and i pulled some heavy loads on a gooseneck trailer with this truck. trailer weighed around 2500-3000 lbs and had a 2wd modified class sled puller truck that weighed 6200 lbs i hauled every summer. just use common sense and youll be fine. you should really consider adding a trailer brake controller because if you pull often the brakes will not take the abuse.
