how much of a truck do i need to pull about 1200 to 1500lbs?
I really dont want to go full size because my current job as a paperboy doing to routes has me driving in almost stop and go depending on the day and i like to four wheel on the weekends becuase the place i ride isnt very far to me that is.
I firgure if i cut unessery things like eating out and cut down my cable i be able to scare up more gas money. Id really to go to a suv because than i can haul all my papers in one load and the 4WD would be helpful during the winter.
Im sort of condsiding a 2005 ford exporler because it not quite full size and it looks like it could handle the sunday paper load.

1200 to 1500lbs is a very light load you dont need to look for anything special to tow that load. some of the big bore atvs will pull that much. so pretty much look for whatever fits your budget

Ive just talked to a friend about a TOYOTA 4-RUNNER her dad had one. she said they were amazing suvs very dependably but the rust was the only thing that got it. it was a older one tho.
there is definitely many choices out there. I plan on thinking on this for a while and testing out each suv and find the one that works for me.

Dont get me wrong, the 4runner is a great rig. I love Toyota. But one thing you have to consider is the price of gas. I don't know how well they are on gas. I know it cost me about $140cdn to fill up my f-150. I'm thinking about getting a little car for driving and saving my old f150 for woods stuff and quadding.

Before the gas crisis of the 1970s most cars could tow a trailer like that without any trouble. Since then 99% of them have lost the ability. It's really too bad that we all need trucks and SUVs to haul trailers that cars used to tow. A few cars can still tow trailers but the gas mileage wouldn't be much better than a truck.
Does anyone know a place to find towing capacities of different models?

i've got a 2.3L ranger and it will tow 2000 lbs. it's got 3.08 gears in the rear end so when i hit the hills with a full load on you'll be in lower gears going up. but the fuel mileage makes up for the slower climb. you could google your truck specs . you'll have to know what gear you have in the rear end to find your towing cap.

id say tacoma with a bed topper for your paper needs or a 4runner. Toyota is just about unstoppable(unless you do something stupid;D ) I love my tundra but am thinking about downsizing to a newer taco or a fj cruiser for a little more gas mileage.
