How do you secure to the trailer.

I put 1 strap on the frame and just hook it to the rails, 1 on the push bar with the straps hooked on next to the tounge, and 1 on the grab bar, ratcheted as tight as I or someone else can press down on the shocks. But its awful hard to not twist your straps when mounting to the frame. Now that I have a trailer where its a perfect fitwith a gate I don't worry as bad.

I figured this was worth digging this thread back up. (Self explanatory)

Had the scanner on earlier today and heard the State Patrol send a Trooper to this so I pulled up the traffic cameras and there it was.

i'm not into looking cool anymore. i'm too old. i don't have to impress anybody. i'm into safe and protecting my investments (quads). i welded D Rings on the sides of my car hauler's angle iron rails. i have a lot of ratchet straps. my quads are secured.

Compressing the suspension does tend to wear on suspension. But we all do it. I have seen some straps that actually go over the tires like a car hauler uses and wraps around the tire not the suspension. Been thinking about getting a few sets.

i agree. i've been looking at them also. i like the tire bonnet style web that covers the malleable tire rather than compressing suspension. i'd rather do the 2" rather than the 1" straps.

Have 4x7 steel trailer. I attach a strap on each side of back rack to hold rear end from bouncing around and attach another from front rail on trailer to rack to hold from sliding back any (I park against front rail). I have two new ratchet straps but have not had to use them yet as my old ones still do the job.

I have the tire bonnets and e-trac in my trailer. Haul 4 ATVs and they never budge an inch. I have D rings that attach to the E-trac then the tire bonnets go over the back to tires. Way better in my opinion than compressing the suspension with ratchet straps

Forget those cam buckles and go with 2" ratchet straps. I use "jingle loops"- two links of chain, one welded to the trailer frame, the other hanging loose to hook the strap from any angle....easy and cheap to make up from old logging or tow chain.
