hey, I have one question, I have a 97 Wolverine and i was interested in getting a new bike, I want a 4x4 but I like speed, should a go with a new Wolverine (which has been a great machine) or should I consider something else...If so give me some good options of what I should get.

Easy, Scrambler 400 or 500. Both are faster and sportier than the Wolverine.

New Wolverine will not go any faster than yours they have the same motor.

The fastest is the Scrambler 500. Dirtwheels said it did 68mph. Take that with a grain of salt, but still, you can pretty much figure it is fast. I know nothing about handling, and I won't even touch on reliability.

Im not meaning to poke here, but I think the Sportsman is pretty fast, plenty fast for woods, and most anything you can throw at it. weve tried and tried, and have yet to get my friends sp500 stuck, exept when going up a hill, hit a rock and went sideways =0

The fastest utility 4x4 is the Polaris Explorer 400. A properly tuned one will run between 60-65 mph and get there pretty quickly. As for handling I think the Wolverine is a better performer. To bad it does not have a switchable 2/4 wd option.

You obviously like your Yamaha's but noticed they
can be a tad slow. I used to ride Honda's and came to the same conclusion. Like it or not Polaris makes the only 4X4's with speed, Scramblers 400 & 500. The Explorer 400 would be my choice if I needed low range because it's under 600 lbs. and has about 37 HP stock. Look over all the stats, nobody else can give the same HP for the money. And I don't worry about chains but I've had drive shafts go to the tune of big bucks$$$$ That was on a well cared for Honda by the way.

Hey guys take a look at the GNCC this year.
both stock and modified utility races are beind
dominated by 2000 Kodiaks.
I race the one in modified class and race against
all the best 4x4s in the country,so my opinion and
proof lays with the results of racing in the real
world. check out the june issue dirt wheels my
kodiak is pictured with the maxxis Great out doors
team its camo. but it only drools on my team mates
wolverine 500.
as of now my kodiak has taken me to the lead in points. contact me if you want to know what my kodiak has,as far as engine work
thanks Randy

the latest issue on DumbWheels.....errrrrr......Dirt Wheels has a feture on on to tricked out yamahas. i've heard grumblings the Yami may be making a facotry 500 wolverine.

my two cents is scrambler 500 is fastest 4x4
wolverine is the most sporty because the scrambler is just a bit to heavy
the rancher is the most versitle but no were neat the fastest....
