Default Kodiak 450 tire choices?

I have 26 inch Bear Claws with about 2000 miles on them and have held up well so far. A heavier ply tire holds up better on rock and wooded trails I been told the goodyear mud runner that comes stock on a polaris HO is also pretty tire too.

I do have a question for Kodiak 400. Nice pixs! The windshield you have on your machine, does the handlebar mount loosen up over rough trail riding, I have a cabela black fairing windshield and the bolts have striped out all ready and I gonna use some harden steel bolts as a replacement.

First of all............ LOL, LOL, LOL,LOL

What do you mean the kodiak 450 is too loud for hunting? any quad will make noise in the bush.

Secondly..........

I will assume that you meant to type the word blaster or banshee (both 2 strokes) when you said that kodiaks are too loud for hunting.

Thirdly........

Maybe if you chase down animals like some poacher then maybe, just maybe i would beleive you when you said the kodiak is too loud for hunting.

last of all..........

Yamaha put a quieter muffler on the Kodiak 450.

So dont tell me the kodiaks are too loud for hunting or any other ATV for that matter.

Dil...I don't know how you hunt, but I normally drive to my deerstand, turn off my Kodiak and climb up into my deerstand and then hunt...most of the time its pretty quite.

I park my camo 4-wheeler right beside the tree I hunt in, never had a problem, shot lots of deer that way and don't intend on changing. You hunt however you want to. Just whatever floats your boat...buddy

My old Honda was bright red so it stuck out like a sore thumb when parked in the woods. I would drive it to the area of my stand, park it in some brush and cover it with some camouflage netting that was enhanced with some local vegetation. It was very hard to see and never seemed to spook the deer. Once it was covered up, deer would walk right past it and not give it second glance. In fact one of the nicest bucks I ever killed walked by the ATV and was shot just a few feet from it. The place where I hunted saw quite a bit of ATV traffic so it wasn't unusual for the deer to hear or see an ATV on a daily basis.

When I get a new ATV it will be a green or black one and have an exhaust silencer on it. I will however still cover it with a good cammo net and park it strategically.

Another thing is to know your hunting area well enough so you aren’t driving in near bedding areas or other sensitive places. Plan your approach carefully and use the wind to your advantage and the ATV will more than likely be a non-issue.

A friend of mine has several very well camouflaged ground blinds that he has used with great success over the past three years. A couple of them have a place to hide two ATVs right at the blind. If you didn’t know what you were looking out you would never even know the blind was there. He is petrified of heights and has become a quite accomplished ground blind builder.

I would think the smell of gas and/or oil fumes would get a deers attention. However I don't hunt much on my 60 acres. Beef & Beer!
