I use my Kodiak for hunting. Lots of dirt road and trail riding, then into the woods through brush, up and down wooded ridges into valleys with swampy areas and (when it rains) mud and clay everywhere. I'm looking for light, puncture resistant, good riding tires that give the best traction in a variety of riding situations. Should I go to a size bigger than my 25" stockers? What are the drawbacks? I'm not sure the perfect tire for me exists but I would like to hear the opinions of those of you with a lot more experience than me! Thanks

 

ITP blackwaters if they are 6 ply in your size (the 27" ones are)

Kenda Bear Claws are great bang for the buck.

Go bigger if you need more clearance or do alot of mud riding. They will be heavier and harder to steer, but the look and traction will be great.

 

Yeah, bear claws are sweet! I gotta convince my father to let me take his off his 99 kodiak 400 and let me put them on my 450!

 

I put the Mud lites on mine and they do everything you mentioned well and are alot better than stock.

 

Pretty hard to beat a set of 26" Bugs or Gators!

 

The MudLites would be a good choice. Great tire and lighter than stock tires. ITP makes excellent tires.

 

I have the Outlaw Radials on my Kodiak 450...never had any problems with them.

 

so how does your kodak work now is it better then it use to be or what is it smother or what tell me more about these tires im NEW!

I agree with Haymaker ITP makes a lite tire and also is made of good quality. I've seen the Mudlites in action very impressive.

 

why would you take a kodiak for hunting it to loud you need a low profile to go hunt with a 4wheeler!
