Default 04 Kodiak 450 starter relay buzzing.

Well my Kodiak has 10 hours on it, I went to start it the other day and heard this awful buzz under the seat.
SO I decided to pull start it, a little nervous about doing this. What a surprise it started on the secod pull,
I Let it run for a while shut it off and hit the button and it started right up.. The next day the same, So I checked
the battery terminals and addded di-electric grease and retightened the terminals. Seemed like the battery got worse.
So I called my Yamaha shop rep guy at home on a Sunday night,, I will stop by the shop on the way home and he will check my battery on monday. I know it is not due to cold , my quad stays in the garage and it is heated. The lights work like there is no battery problem, but if the starter does not have enough juice it will just buzz... I guess I will probably come home with a new battery...

I pulled the battery out and took it to the Yamaha dealer and they tested it with a load on it and it was bad..
Gave me a new battery and I put it in ,, fired right up.....

I've heard a lot of stock batteries are bad b/c they aren't charged right at the dealership. I thought that was the deal w/ mine, but as it turned out, it wasn't the battery, just the connection.

Should the shop charge a new battery, or just fill it with acid and it is ready to go ????

Not sure, I've heard people say it never hurts to trickle charge it after you 1st get it. I have never done it though.

When the electrolyte is first added, it takes 72 hours to properly fully charge a new battery. If the battery is ever fully discharged, except for deep-cycle batteries, it is permanently damaged and it's life has been shortened.
