I don't think synthetics are compatible with the bikes autoclutch.

I use synthetic oil in my wolverine and it works fine...

Just make sure you dont use oil that has detergent or other stuff like it...

Another thing to avoid, if the bottle has an "energy conserving" label or mention on it, avoid it...

Mine runs on Motul motorcycle oil, i think it's the 3100

Runs great, never slips...

Dunno if there's a difference in auto and manual clutches, but I use Mobil 1 15-50 in my Warrior. Got about 2000km on it so far and it still looks brand new!!

Amsoil makes a synthetic oil for ATV's 0W40. It's made to use with a wet clutch.

Sok, if you are riding in very cold temps, the petroleum based oil's viscosity at low temps may be a problem. Synthetics certainly flow and protect a LOT better in cold temps. Otherwise you could possibly have worn out oil, or need adjustments to your quad..hard to speculate.

Guys, detergents are a good thing in oils. What you don't want when you get a synthetic oil for your quad is one with friction modifiers in it. Typically, synthetic oils that are designed for motorcycles will have friction modifiers removed, which is why they are preferable to automotive synthetics of the same viscosity range. I have had great results with amsoil synthetic 0w40. Another good one is Mobil 1 MX4t 10w40.
