2001 Honda Rancher 350 ES

I rode the Rancher this weekend alot and that **** is hard as hell to steer. No wonder my mom is always saying her arms are tired.
It squeeks to when you turn the handle bars.I put some wd-40 on the squeeky part but it didn't help.
Is there bearings in the steering part? Are they all hard to turn? What could I do to make it turn easier for my mom?

About 2 years ago I got a 02 rancher 4x4. After about a year and a half I got a 2/4 selector. When in 2wd I noticed it was much heavier to steer and also alot more fun. So why would u put it back into 4wd if 2wd is so great. Well I didn’t. And then after a while I put it back in 4wd and noticed it felt really hard to steer. Not to hard and especially on pavement. Point is if your use to driving a 2wd then a 4wd would have having steering to you.

Took the ole Rancher out today for some mudd ridding in the rain.I rode the **** out of it but stoped periodicly to let it cool down.
Some mudd had gotten in the shifter switch on the bars and fryed it.Wouldn't shift for crap so I hit it with the garden hose a couple times and it started working again. Also I noticed if you run it hard for a bit the power drops dramaticly. The Rancher 350ES likes to rest alot hehe.
My friend was keeping up with me on my sisters Polaris Trailboss lol that thing sux.I don't even want to start on it.

Took the ole Rancher out today for some mud ridding in the rain(lol) and went over a hill. Hit the brakes. And slid sideways. Building up more and more speed sliding sideways. The back half wacked a tree and spun it around 180 degrees while it flipped over then at the same second all that happened it hit another tree. It was the worst wreck Ive ever been in. Im fine and the quad got a bit banged up but I don’t think ill need to replace anything. The front brake was pointed way down. And the throttle was pointed way up. And the rear left plastic above the wheel got crushed in. the toughest part was rolling 550 pounds up a hill with no one around. I couldn’t keep rolling it over the way it was rolling because there was a tree it came to a stop at. And the fact my feet couldn’t get traction on the hill because of the mud. What a friggen day.

I won a 350es 4x4 and traded up in favour of the kodiak 450. What do you guys think about the button shifter?
I didnt like the fact that it had a back up foot shifter. What was Honda saying? this may break so we will give you a back up? That didnt sell me at all.
Honda makes a great machine, but if it was a foot shift I would have kept it.

I'll take the Honda ES system anyday over a belt drive pos. 3 long years through hell with a rancher FE, not a single problem.
Thats just honda looking out for its customers. Does yamaha or any other company have a backup system to get you home if thier belt busts on the trail? No, youre screwed.
