Default problems with warn winch!

How do you guys all replace the cable, you have to take the winch apart right? I am going to call WARN right after this post.

If your referring to the actual 7x19 wire rope, no you don't have to take the winch apart. Just freespool it all the way out and you'll come to the end which is attached to the drum itself by a screw or sometimes it is just captivated in a slot in the drum. I've never done one of these small ATV winches. Disconnect it from the drum, connect the appropriate end of your replacement cable, stretch it out and spool it on while putting it under some tension. Just make sure it is going the correct way...you know, "IN" for recovery of the cable.

Ya okay thanks, I don't know because my step brother did it for me last time so I wasn't paying much attention.

One thing I really like is that Polaris mounts thier winches really high on the bike. Almost to the top of the front rack, this keeps them out of the mud, water, etc. By keeping them dry like this, I think it really improves duribility, no matter what brand winch you run.

Josh,
I know this is off subject, but do you like those trunks on the back off your quads. I was thinking of gettin one but not sure I wanted to spend the money on one. They are pretty expensive I know, so I wanted to make sure before I got one. Also, do you ever have anybody ride in that seat on the trunks, if so are they comfortable? thanx.

It also could be the plastic gears inside the winch.

Ya they're not bad, make sure that you get one with rear handles built into it though, so that the passenger has something to hold on ito, you may also want to get foot pegs installed on your rear fenders, because some of my passengers complain about sliding forward, but these would solve the problem. The built in storage in them is pretty useful, they can hold drinks, food, rope, tool boxes, what ever you want. Hope this helps!

My manual says do not submerge for my Warn 2.5 so if they realize you have dunked it it may void the warranty.
