Winch Switches

I have installed a Superwinch X-1 on my Sportsman. I have the swith mounted on the side of the gas tank but I don't really like it there. I plow snow with my SP so I need the switch to be within reach preferably on the left side. Is there a better switch set up out there? The superwinch switch is big and cumbersome.

On my previous Superwinch (ATV1500), I mounted the rotary switch on my left handlebar with a "dash mount kit," basically a sheet-metal holder for the switch, and a couple of sheet-metal screws. I believe the part number is 1501 for the X1.
I now have an X2 3000 # Superwinch mounted with solenoid control and remote switch, PLUS, I have wired in a handlebar-mounted rocker switch within reach of my left thumb; thus I have the option of either local or remote operation of the winch.
The dual setup ain't as easy as it sounds; E-mail me if you want to go this route.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a Superwinch T1500 winch, or my previous ATV1500 (the ATV1500 did not have the freespooling feature enjoyed by the T1500 and my current X2).
In fact, my ATV1500 has been in constant service since 1978; it was originally a dealer-installed factory option on my Subaru station wagon; the winch in in service now as we speak, mounted on a friend's King Quad. With a ****** block (highly recommended accessory, blazer316!), I was never left stranded and stuck with my ATV1500. Last April, my KQ-riding companion and I used that veteran winch and ****** block to move a log from the Tasker's Gap trail complex, a blow-down so huge both of us couldn't budge it by hand.
Why did I upgrade to the 3000 # X2? As Mallory, early Everest explorer (never QUITE made it to the top, I think, although some argue otherwise) said, when asked why he climbed the mountain, "Why, because it's THERE." While the X2's freespooling feature provides convenience, if pressed, I'd admit the ATV1500/T1500 is fully adequate for ATVing applications.
The T1500 has 25' of wire rope; the T2000 has 50'; the T2000 has an internal spring brake statndard (handy for raising and holding a snowplow blade, for example); that device is an extra-cost ($ 22) add-on for the ATV2000. Otherwise, I think the two current model Superwinch products are essentially identical (same motor and geartrain).
