lol...i cant help but laugh at VINSONACK....i have never seen someone so lost before...lol. you have a son? a kodiak(nice machines) dont stand a chance against a bigger bore ATV with IRS(say it with me....independent rear suspension)...meaning you have more groundclearance than a swingarm axle does. Sportsmans were the kings back in 98 or 99 when IRS was introduced into that line. No other stock machine could come close to outmudding and outhandling in the rough stuff when compared to the 500sportsman. It took a couple years for the competitors to realize the potential for IRS. ATM, no machine is overall "King", since there are many powerfull and nice machines. But the big boys with IRS(in a grp) are kings. lol, and goin back to dirtyrags...lol...and even worse....atv television....lol is all i have to say to you if you trust them. And if it wasnt for the sportsman line...pushing the way for the bigger CC machines, full floar boards, CVT tranny, and IRS, then we wouldnt have the bigbores we have now...but instead be riding honda 450's or someother "lackluster"(imho...i realize im gonna be attacked...but what the hey) ATV. Your probly just some daddies boy regurgitating information he heard from dad, while he is justifying his purchase. My advice for you, shut up, and enjoy what you have and dont put down others for making a choice they feel fits them. Your not goin to change there minds buddy....and were just gonna laugh at you...while you drain away all the I had for you.

lol...thats cus polaris had barely any ATV's out in the 80's...they started small in the ATV business, then throughout the 90's they started to produce more and more models. Boy, you cant even remember the late 80's...probly a 1yr old kid during that time....there first trike was released in 1986, first 4wheeler was in 87 i believe.

hey vinsonack chill son your making suzuki guys look like a$$es. I LOVE my vinson and i think it is one of the most capable machines made, and is the best at what it does(go down the trail faster than any other 4x4) due to the amazing handeling. But it is not the best in mud or deep snow because it dosent have the ground clearence of an IRS machine. I do however like it better than an IRS machine for truely technical terrain, because I like the stability of the straight axle even though the ride is rougher, im young and can take the beating that some of you geezers are wineing about.

suzuki4ever, I'll definitely agree with the handling and stability of the Suzi's (and most of the other solid axle type machines). I never said the IRS machines were the best out there, but they shine in their element and that is extremely rough terrain with lots of obstacles. All quads have strengths and weaknesses. I chose an IRS machine knowing full well I was sacrificing a little in the high speed handling and sidehill stability departments, but I wanted the superior ride (OK, I'm old and wimpy. I know !!), ground clearance, and the IRS's ability to keep four wheels on the ground when I'm dragging a moose or elk out of a cutblock over stumps and logs. It does exactly what I need and expect from it. That's all I can ask.

I will do a quick duck in and out of this Pxxsin contest. I have an A/C TRV. It has the same engine as the Vinson. Weighs about 800 pounds and very stable. In a drag against a 2003 Rubicon the Honda gets me by about 2 bike lengths in 200 yards. The extra weight makes it a real workhorse. It will easily out pull a 2003 Rubicon. The Vinson is more geared towards the sport utility crowd and does well there. It lacks the IRS of the A/C, Grizzley and Polaris machines and the ground clearance. Dodging rocks all the time on a straight axle machine gets tiring after doing it all day. None of the 500s you mention are sport machines so ground clearance and IRS would seem to be important. All of the 500CC machines have good reliability as I have friends that own them. Overall, I chose the A/C as it had the features I liked and many of the others didn't have these features. I have friends who have a new Polaris 700 and a new Grizzley 660 and will say that both of these are much faster, both in acceleration and top end than my A/C. You may be a little more nimble on tighter trails but I honestly feel in the open both of these will take you easily. As far as 500CC machines go the only one that will come close with a Vinson in acceleration and speed is the Polaris 500 HO. For the price it is an excellent buy with a very reliable engine and transmission. If they put IRS on it the Vinson would be about as good as it gets for 500CC machines. These are opinions of a 40 year old who likes to put around with the wife on the back of his TRV. I would defend my observations as being factual from what I have personally seen and heard. Buy the one you like the best and don't worry about anyone elses!!

and the 500 shootout winner is the vinson for overall fit and finish, pure sport handling, tough trail riding, and top rate utility useage.second place is hard to pick between the sportsman and the cat but i think i would probly go with the cat for the strong and reliable motor.third is the sportsman for the confort. fourth is the honda and in last place is the quest.
