Default Installed Warn 424............Need Help!

Well we finally got the 424 unlocker on the Rubicon today. When we were finished, I took some hot laps around the shop. Very impressed with the 4x2 abilities, but I'm having a problem disengaging it from 4x4 into 4x2. You can pull the lever back, but it will not lock into position. It slides INTO 4x4 perfectly. Slightly moving either forward or backwards doesn't help either, whether under throttle or coasting. HOWEVER, if you jack the front end up so the front tires are just off the ground, it will lock and unlock flawlessly. As soon as you set it back down, it won't go into 4x2. What's the deal?

ON my wolverine It goes into 2 wheel If you put a little load on it and then just as you back off pull the lever back till she clicks in.

We tried every trick in the book as far as throttle and whatever else. I'm 99.9% sure it's something mechanical. I just don't think adjusting the cable's going to do it.

I'm sure I'll figure it out because everyone else with this problem has resolved it one way or another. The performance in 2 wheel drive on a Rubi is awesome man! Little better acceleration too.

If it can relieve some of the arm pump you get when trying to steer that beast at low speed, then I would declare it a victory. It sounds to me like it works good when not loaded with the suspension fully extended on a jack, so my first question is the geometry causing it to bind when the chassis is at normal ride height? Is there some fudge factor that allows it to be moved up or down the shaft to free it up some? Is it just a case of lack of lubrication while assembling it? Hard to say from this end....

What does Warn say? I am sure they have come accross this before...

i'm gonna throw out a suggestion: check the tire pressures. if the fronts are different than the rear, it'll put a load on the front end and cause your problems. maybe...

I've gathered quite a bit of information and I'm gonna go work on it sometime this weekend. Will give a progress report if I can fix it in case anyone else has this problem, becasue it's very frustrating right now.
