Default interested in a kawasaki 650 prairie

I am interested in buying a 650 prarie. I have only rode one in the parking lot of a dealership. I was wondering how they do in the woods, how fast are they on top. I do a lot of riding on private roads (hahaha) and i was wondering how they were just to get on the road and cruise. how do they handle with two people on them. And does the automatic slip in the water or while pulling heavy loads. I would appreciat any help you can offer me
thanks alot

You might want to visit the Kawasaki forum for a ton of info...but I love mine. It does great in the woods, hills, mud, muck, etc. It won't handle like a sport bike, but then again, you don't have to be nearly as careful at choosing your lines, if you see where you wanna go, just point and pull the trigger, it will go over or through just about anything that you have the guts to throw at it.

As far as road cruising, go for it. I ride mine about 5 miles one way on blacktop to my favorite riding spot and have no worries whatsoever. In fact, I am usually waiting for traffic to speed up and don't get passes up by traffic very often, only if I want them to pass me since the speed limit is 45 mph and the 650 can do that without breaking a sweat. The only thing about the 650 that is weak is the stock tires...get some more before you ride it.

I take my wife along for rides alot she and the Kaw love it. I work the hell out of it and smoke ALL the other 4x4 on the weekends what more can you ask from a quad. I run the local ATV club GREAT NORTHERN ATV and get a chance to ride them all we have in the club Prairies a 03 Rincon,03 sportsman 700 and a 03 Grizzly I have ridden them all and raced them all and worked with most of them. I would not even think about trading the Kaw for any of them . They all have good points just one has many more than the others . Buy the way I sold my 02 Grizz to get the Kaw as the club leader I thought I should be the one leading .

Get a 700 instead of a 650 Prairie. If I was going to buy a 650+ cc quad. The 700 would be my first choice. I would still have to consider the new Suzuki with EFI that is coming out.

How long are you willing to wait raptorkilla? I do agree with CoyoteChaser that if you want a big-bore machine right now, make it the 700 Prairie/700 Twinpeaks. However, if you can wait for quite a while, Kawasaki will release either probably later this year or earlier next year, new 650 and 750 V-Twins. They will no longer adorn the Prairie name, but be called Brute Force instead. I'm not sure about EFI, but I have heard they will be making two different models of the new 750. One will have solid rear axle and one will have independent rear suspension. There's quite a bit of chatter going on about them over in the Kawi forum, you may want to search for it or just post your own to get a better scoop than I can provide. Just a thought!
