warn 2000 winch switch
anyone know of a better winch switch that is somewhat weather proof? the rotory switch it came with took a crap and i replaced it with the same kind and it did the same thing, warn claims it is not water or weather proof. that switch sucks. i looked at the big red switch warn makes but that thing is ungodly huge and just as cumbersome as there cheap rotory one. i also saw the small one that comes with the 2.5 but i dont know if it can be ordered as a part or what , or if mates with the older setup. its on a praire 650

I believe that you have to get the upgrade from WARN to be able to use the mini rocker switch.
As for the rotary one, I agree it is alittle cheezy. I went thru a couple of them when I had it mounted to my fender but after I placed it on the handle bars I had no more problems with it.

Yeah, my 2.5 has the mini switch. It's taken mud/high pressure wash/water pretty good. The mounting bracket was a little over-done, parts-wise, so I made a more sturdy and simple one, using a 7/8" 2 piece collar and the tab that came w/ the switch. I tucks the switch directly below the E-start button, easily reached w/ my hand still on the grip.

I looked on the warn site and I also believe you need the whole conversion kit. The A2000 uses a solenoid and the 2.5 uses a contactor. I think the switch you have may carry some of the actual winch load where the mini carries none. I see on the webpage another rocker that is waterproof, But it is larger and doesn't sat what it is for.
