I've heard of some trouble getting the adjustments right but other than that they have been getting some good reviews. I've got the highlifter un-locker and do not recomend it.

I have the Warn 424 on my Foreman. I love it and it sure does change the handling of it. Mine was a #%@!^ to install, but it might be easier on the Rancher. Took me about 5 hours total, including adjustments. I ride in 2wd most of the time, and love the fact I can 'shift on the fly' into 4wd when needed.

works amazing well on my rancher, just make sure to use the switch from 4 to 2 once and while, i left my in 2 for like a month and it would engage 4x4, had to take apart and clean it, then it was good as new

do you need to be off power to shift on the fly? if so im thinking of mounting the switch on the right side

You don't have to be 'off' power to shift from 4wd to 2wd and vice versa. In fact, you can go it going down a trail with your hand on the throttle doing 30mph. You just have to make sure that both front wheels and rear wheels are going about the same speed, ie, you don't want your rear wheels spinning in mud (your fronts are not moving or moving slower) then slam it into 4wd. That's a no no.

i would mount it on the left side, imo, because you can still be on the throttle while going in/out 4wd if necessary.
