Its been about one year ago when i asked about my ride.Isitll have a problem when first starting up .It willnot shift into third gear unless i pull hard on lever with my hand. took it to dealer they adj it and said its fine.think not. it sucks saying to the guys wait a min its got to warm up.any one else have this problem?

 

p.s. please dont say its cold in michigan. it does it spring.summer.fall.thanks.

 

The cold has nothing to do with it, you have an adjustment issue or a cable is binding.

 

Like i said the dealer adj the cluch. there is no cable.its manual

 

Didnt know it was a manual, thought your reference to shifting it with your hand was the backup shifter on the ES.

Have you checked your oil levels?

 

What kind of oil are you using???

 

valvoline 4stroke 10w40. it did the same thing with the oil that came from factory.

 

I I use the GN4 from Honda. My dad also uses GN4 from Honda and he has an 03 rancher with no probs.

 

Some of the early models had problems with bent clutch plates. Got mine replaced on warranty. But by 03, that should have been taken care of, long ago. I would suggest that you might just have to pull the thing apart and take a look.
