If you need 4x4 sometimes...you might want to rethink this one. Its full tme 4x4..no 2wd option, unless you get a warn 424.
They are bulletproof, and dependable. Great low end grunt, and very good engine braking. But they also ride like an unloaded 3/4 ton truck. I like mine, but on long rides, im pretty beat up.
The ground clearance isnt that great, and youll find that if you follow everyone elses ruts, youre gonna get hung up.
Check over the drum brakes in front, before buying. Lots of guys dont keep up on the maint in front, and the bearings and brakes can be in bad shape if it wasnt looked after. Also check for engine smoke..if you see blue smoke, pass it up, unless its dirt cheap.
If that 99 is in good shape, and wasnt abused, itll last another 15 years, easy. Why is it for sale?
Definetly take it for a ride before buying, it doesnt take long to get the feel for it, and whether or not youll like driving it.
