Default kodiak problems

I'm asking for help. I have always had a slight hesitation in my 2004 450 kodiak. this happens when you first give it gas there is like a dead spot then it takes off. or it wants to cut out on you when for give it gas or take off and when it is in 4wd. well yesterday a went on a ride where I had to cross a creek a few times now this creek is not super deep and I crossed it some last year with no problem, but yesterday it would want to stall out even if there was a small almount of water in the road. if I went in it, it wanted to stall out. I would have to keep the throttle wide open when i crossed the creek or hit a water spot in the road. this is a stock bike all but the 26 inch mud lites and ITP wheels. it is starting to do this more now and I would like to know if anyone has any idea what is going on. thanks
