which models have full lock diffrential? I'm aware of Grizzly, Outlander, Kingquad. Any others? I know that Kawasaki has this variable thing which I don't trust.

polaris' have the fully locked diff all the way around all the time, but they have their quirky 4x4 system
yamaha has a selectable dif lock in the front and locked in the rear
same for honda im pretty sure
i cant vouch for kawasaki much, but i think its simmaler to yamaha's

The Honda's don't have a fully locking front diff do they? I haven't been under the impression that they do. The Kawi does, but I have heard the bike has to move a little before the 4x4/diff will engage. That could be a big problem in certain situations. I have also heard that both the Grizz and the KQ will engage instantly, without the bike having to move at all.

The Honda's don't have front diff lock and I've heard it takes 20ft for the Kawi's 4x4 to engage and disengage they have a very bad 4x4 actuator. The Grizzly and KQ's 4x4 systems are the best, they engage instantly they have front diff lock too. Polaris' set up is odd, 4wd only engages when the rear wheel's slip so even if you want to be in 4wd you can't unless the rear wheels slip.

Everyone can speculate, even people that don't own one of these. I've got the 800. Good fender protection, nice front ride, storage that leaks, poor fit and finish, bad reliability for me. They took away grease fittings but left the plastic bushings so people could say "less maint",poor design. No back up starter if the Batt dies. The steel rims and tires work well. Stay away from the alum. It's been back to the dealer twice in 350 miles. I have 750 miles now and the clutch is squealing when ebs is working and the rear brakes failed at 500 miles.
Someone hit it on the head with the "hype" before a big rig release. I'd give the Bomb a year to get over any growing pains. If they give you a 3 yr. warr though it shows they believe in their product. Pol 6-mo.
My bud bought his 2 Pol. in New Hamp. and stopped at a dealer first who told him if he wanted a good rig to look at the KQ. The weird thing was he was also a Pol dealer. He said he was tired of all the problems and was in a legal battle to drop his contract with Pol.
My dealer also sold Suzuki and the salesman was trying to steer me to the KQ as well. I was too brand loyal and my buy American mentality forbade me from looking hard at the other brands. BIG mistake.
The KQ seems like the most quality, and with EFI, sealed rear brake, back up starter, bearings instead of cheap plastic it looks like a good choice. The Grizz is proven as well.

Bionic:
Thanks for your honest assessment regarding the Polaris 800. I was the one who mentioned the hype about any new big release (e.g., Bomb 800). But, I will admit that the hype did cause me to go drive a Bomb 800 yesterday. And, I won't deny the fact that it did seem like a very nice machine (very powerful, very smooth, etc.). It's way too expensive though for what you get. You could have a nice, used Jeep for the same amount of money! The KQ is a nice machine, and priced rather well (reasonable). Funny you mentioned the thing about dealers talking about other brands, too. I went to the Bomb/Yamaha place first, before going to Suzuki. When I told the dude at the Bomb/Yamaha place that I want to go drive a KQ before I make a decision he tried his best to make the Bomb product seem superior to the Suzuki product. In contrast, while I was visiting with the dude at the Suzuki dealer (who I told I had just ridden the Grizz right before coming to his place, but did not mention anything about riding the Bomb), he told me straight up that the Grizz is a very good machine. But, he also went on to say that not many changes have taken place on the Grizz in the last several years, and now people like other products like the KQ more due to enhanced design criteria. In other words, he acknowledged the fact that one of his competitors (the Grizz) is a fine machine, but that he also believes that he is offering a better product in the KQ instead of just bad mouthing the competition to make it seem inferior. I appreciated that from him. However, at that point in time, he was telling me something that I had already figured out for myself.

Everyone has issues with their machines, like bionic, some hold up better than others, some get lemons. However, i live on the Gulf Coast, and every dealer you can think of is down here competing against each other, EXCEPT BOMB. there is not a BRP dealer around here for miles and miles. as for the atv's down here, we dont even consider Bombardier Products a serious contender in the ATV market. I know there are probably Bomb dealers where you guys live, but there isint any down here. I wonder why?
By the way the 4wd Lock system does not come on instantly on the Grizz, i ride with one constantly, sometimes it does, somtimes it takes 5-10 seconds to fully actuate. ANYWHO as for my list... (NOT INCLUDING BOMB YET, B/C I KNOW NOONE WHO OWNS ONE YET)
1. Polaris Sportsman 800 EFI - ESPECIALLY WITH THE STROKE KIT THAT MAKES IT 852cc's I'VE HEARD
2. Suzuki Kingquad 700 EFI or 650 Artic Cat (because of ground clearance)
3. Yamaha Grizzly 660 Because its proven to be a great machine with the most aftermarket products
4. Honda Rincon 650 - i believe honda did a terrible job with this 4wheeler, HONDA is my fav. brand too, hopefully the '06 Rinny will be better.
- i didnt just list Polaris 1st because i own one. I've driven them all except for Bomb, and Kawi's. And i like the Pol. Best. I've had no problems with any of my 4 wheelers.

BRP just isn't well known in the ATV market. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawi, Polaris have been making ATV's for decades, BRP has been at it about 5 years. It's hard to be a newcomer in an already well established market.
