Anyone have any good homebuilt projects for their quad they are proud to show off, rack boxes, plows, etc? I am going to take an old Reese receiver and build my own hitch for the Rubicon, can't justify spending $74.99!

For my Rubicon I made up a set of reverse lights using two enclosed house lights and wires it all to a switch on the handle bar.Just finish custom bottom head light protoctors and about to start one for the top one.Made a box for the front rack to transport the power saw.Made a backet to mount a rear winch to my kimpex bumper. Also making a power tip and a way to mount a search light to the front rack, plus a front tow hook.
For my big bear I have made a full custom skid plate and floor broads.

A friend of mine was so fed up with the racks on his new King Quad that he ripped the things off and welded up a new set. I think they're nicer than any racks I've ever seen on an ATV stock or aftermarket.
The front one is an integrated rack/bumper/brushguard made of tubing and expanded metal. It has 3 removable dry boxes and extra lighting tabs. Looks very sharp and most importantly it is functional.
The rear is made of the same general parts but has a removable drop down bed or carrier type of thing. It is sort of bulky but can carry all sorts of gear like 5 gallon buckets, chainsaws, milk crates, toolboxes and the like. When it isn't needed it you just remove four pins and slide it off so you can use the regular rack. Quite slick.
He has all the jigs and stuff he used to make them and I'm trying to convince him to try a short production run of them and sell them on ebay or something. As crappy as King Quad racks are, especially the front ones, I think they'd sell like hot cakes.

The front shot of my Grizzly in my profile shows a piece of screen out of a furnace I used to add some extra protection for some lights. Came out pretty good so I used some more on the rear of the front rack to help protect some switches I mounted.(Not in pics)

In my pictures is a shot of a gas can/box set up I built for the front of a buddys King Quad......for nite rides he just unbolts the center box. Soft sided six pack coolers fit in the fuel can holders when you dont need to pack extra gas.
I also build single can holders for the front Rack/bumper of most quads.

So far I've installed the non fresnel lense lights from a 2001 rubicon on my 1998 Forman, had to custom fit, wire, and mount them, I've installed air horns, made the neutral start override and a custom panel to mount that switch and the horn button, made my own snorkle kit and extended the vent lines, and I've made my own plow and mount.

I just got done with a rear cargo box for my '04 ATP. The Atp if you arent familiar with it has a dump bed and none of the available dry storage boxes will work. I purchased a Delta 288000 32" poly truck box and mounted it on two peices of 3/4 square angle, which got mounted to the upper bed rails with carriage bolts and wing nuts. On top I mounted two poly tuff-bins from Home Depot to serve as gas can carriers for the blitz 2 1/2 gallon cans. The bottom of the mounting rails rides even with the top of the bed rails so I can still store plenty of small or medium sized gear in the bed under the box. I'm gonna load it up and try it out this afternoon. The whole deal sits pretty high so I am a little worried about raising the COG and getting tippy. The high gas can location may have to be scrapped. On the bright side a 5 gallon swiss jerry can will fit in the bed under the box so if it doesn't work out the way I like I can store the gas there and put light stuff like ropes in the tuff-bins.

I think I am going to buy myself a cheap wire feed welder for Christmas. If that happens the quad will soon be unrecognizable for all the homade crap bolted on to it.

Pretty cool idea for the ATP! If you buy the cheap MIG welder, make sure you get setup with bottle of gas and regulator, the flux core crap does not work very good. I have a Hobart Handler 120 that I picked up about 15 years ago and this thing has put together many roll cages and racecar stuff without any trouble what so ever!

On my profile page are a couple items I built.
One is to apply down pressure on an ATV snowplow making it more effective and controlable.
The other is an Ag. system that applies down pressure but will come up if something is hit.
