Default New to me 1999 Grizzly

Hello to all.

I'm new to Quads and this forum.
Let me know what you guys think of my recent purchase.
Good deal? Fair deal? or Man you are crazy?

I found a 1999 Grizzly for sale locally. $4,000.00
This machine looks like it just came new from the dealer.
It has 410 miles. the former owner recently installed an FMF pipe, new Warn winch and moose plow.
The plow and winch were never used. He also gave me a new set of tires off of his new 2005 grizzly, but the original tires still look new. He recently had an impulse buy when he was "just looking" at our local Yamaha dealer.

I really looked it over, there are barly any scratches the skid plate isn't even scratched. He said he never used it much except to ride around his farm. I took the covers off the sides and the engine looks like new.

This past week I changed the front and rear diff oil and the engine oil and filter just because I thought it would be a good Idea. I checked the Air filter, its as clean as could be.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

I'm relatively new to ATV's as well. So let me start by saying welcome and have fun. The deal sounds good to me, and all that matters is that you don't feel that you were ripped off.

It sounds like you got a pretty good deal. You're probably going to want to clean your fuel system. It has been sitting a lot for the past 6 years and my guess is it has had the same gas in it a lot of the time. Also, the seals may not be in the best of shape. After you have ridden it a bit check for seapage all over on the machine. Seals are cheap and not that hard to replace but the cost of not replacing them is very high.

One more thing, you will want to replace the air filter. Even though it may look ok, the foam is probably breaking down. Check to make sure mice have not gotten in there and made a nest or stored dog food in your air filter. That happened to a guy on this forum.
Check out ATVowners.com They have a section just for Grizzlies.

I just baught a new 2006 Grizzly 660 with a 2500lb Warn winch, Yamaha Brush Guard, 2 helmets, 4 tie downs, and a 2 year ext. warranty for $6200 out the door. If you paid $4k for a 99 sounds like these things do hold there value well!!

Thats one thing I noticed with ATV's is that they do hold there values. You not likely to find that good of a deal on a used one as one would think they could get. Thats another reason I bought brand new. Figured if I sold it I could get most of my money back out of it. Welcome to the forums and it sounds like a decent deal to me!

Here is a link to my rides. The Yama dealer hadn't put my brush guard on yet in these photos.
