Default Vinson 5-speed

I've got an 04 Suzuki Vinson 4x4 5-speed with a mere 1200 miles(well, thats not alot by my standards). Recently the shifter has started to get stuck in the up position after up shifting, causing it to stay in a false neutral, untill I click it back down into its normal position. The quad has been perfectly maintained, and the only other problem I had was the 4x4 actuator bolts breaking out. The oil is changed after eveyr ride, and the clutch adjusted regularly. At first I tought it was form running a 20w-50 oil, but after trying a multitude of different grades, I realized it wasnt the oil. This problem is getting very annoying, and with an Ocala National Forrest trip coming up, I'd like t get this fixed as soon as possible. Any input on this would be well appreciatted.
Thanks
Guinness

Well, I'd guess you either have a broken shifter pawl return spring, or something got bent and is binding up.

Is there a pivot or external linkage? If so, I'd check that stuff out first, but if that isn't the problem you are probably going to need a service manual and will need to tear into it.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

yeah, this is the first problem i ever had with any of my 5 speeds. oh, and id like to see a belt last 1200 miles with the beating i put on this quad. and unlike a quad with a slipping belt, i can still ride my quad as is.
even if i have a sticky shift lever, ill still romp on any belt drive in my class, and some bigger ones.

1200 hunnnerd miles? that's it?

Dude, you don't know squat! Your talking out your **** touting the wonderful thing you think your quad is simply because you happen to have it at your disposal. Perhaps someday your dad will buy you a real quad to praise.

youre pissin me off with the daddy buyin me s*t. he paid for half of the vinson, and so did i. i also paid for all mods done to it. which is more than i can say for most of the kids i ride/race with. my dad bought me my first bike, and first car. its been all on my own ever since. now im on my second car(that will probably romp all over yours) and my 6th bike. plus 2 four wheelers.

I got an 05 stocker neon, not gonna take much to romp all over it. I do feel pleased however that you finally realize your "auto manual" vinison isn't gonna touch my bone stock Grizz anywhere, any condition under any circumstances.

Is this why your suddenly switching from braggin on your quad to braggin on your car?

If the thread ever gets back onto the topic of the shifting problem with the Vinson, let me know. I'd like to know how it works out.
