manual shift big bore utility quads?
#1
Hi,
Please have patience with me as I will be posting this in other forums...
With the major manufacture’s about to release new model line ups for 07, what are the chances that we might see a “big bore” with a 5-speed dual range tranny?
I currently have a belt drive kawi and have driven the other brands and would desperately like to see a “big bore” manual shift. Currently looking for a “big bore,” but only if it is a manual shift. I hate the feel of a belt drive quad, especially when navigating down steep hills backing a loaded tailor.

I've been holding out for one forever it seems. Right now it seems that Arctic Cat and Kymco will be our best bet. Arctic Cat because they are starting to expand on their engine platform and we "might" see a 650 manual with the H1 (since the 500 manuals sell so well), and Kymco because the company president said in an interview a couple years ago that they were working on both 500cc and 800cc ATVs... and the ATV engine they had on display at a dealer convention last year looked like it had a manual transmission built in (rather than the large boss where a CVT drive system would sit). Kymco is releasing the 500cc quad soon, so they weren't just blowing smoke.
Things may get exciting in the next year or two.
