Sorry, but I don't mean to offend anybody but any belt drive ATV is a POS. I have seen the problems and the trouble the belt drives have and I would never wanta own one.

Thats why they've been putting them in sleds forever? My Rincon isn't belt driven and if it ever has problems I'm in for a WORLD of $$$ hurt.

But it's strange, I plowed with my Polaris Sportsman 400 for two years in a row with the same belt and it never gave me ANY trouble...maybe that's saying something about Polaris' utilities. But when it comes to sport ute's, I'd take a belt driven ATV over a gear driven.

If your plowing snow it's easy to get your belt warmed up and get your belt to talking to you
so what? As long as your not making your belt have long conversations it's ok, but a chirp once in ahwile is fine

OK you guys that own a belt drive never said anything about how the belt slipps when it gets wet, lets not kid ourselves, you know and I know that plastic belt cover isn't waterproof and the ones that are waterproof they are still vented and water enters thru the vent, everybody builds ATV's with belt drives to keep the cost down when buying a new one, and to make money selling belts. Im talking about running ATVs in extreme and abusive conditions like going thru seat high water, engine deep mud, vertical hills and over downed trees. if you don't ride ur ATV thru these conditions on dry, level ground a belt drive will work. Everytime im out I always run into a guy that owns a belt drive with belt slipping problems, I have seen the smoke and smelled the rubber burning from a slipping belt drive, I have seen guys that run a belt drive that chicken out a rough trail cause they know their belt drive won't make make it, Im not cutting down a belt drive, its just I would never own one, and im kinda worried cause more and more models are changing from gear to belt drive, when ATVs first came out all were gear drives.

I have NEVER had a wet belt, and ive been in a lot of water. Granted some older models arent as sealed up, but most of the newer ones are sealed up tight to resist water. Ive had my belt slip once when pulling a stuck polaris in reverse. But can swear ive never had water on my belt. And my "belt drive" will go where any "gear drive" will, gauranteed. Ive STOOD on my seat in water, and seen other people with belt drives do it, without a problem. Ive crossed some of the roughest terrain, hills, and obstacles with my belt drive, and with other belt driven atvs close behind, and in front of me. If they couldnt go where a gear drive can, they wouldnt sell

I have never had a problem with my SP600 belt slipping because it was wet. I have been over the seat in water many times and I have 2300 miles on it with not one belt slippage because of water. I did have a belt break but it was at 1400 miles adn I knew it was going to break because it did start to slip. Changing belts is a maintenance item. I put a heavy duty belt and it has been fine. Yes some quads will slip in water but it depends on how high the intake for the belt housing sits. All I do with the 600 is mud and it does awsome. I dont have any problems with belt drives and most utes have belts now days.

Also Polaris is the first one to have a belt drive ute and they still have them. Sleds have belt drives and they do awsome so that must say something about belt drives. If a belt breaks no big deal just replace it. If a gear driven tranny breaks then holy crap its big money. Not that it will ever happen but I pray my tranny in my honda never goes out.

I call the BS card, I don't think this guy has seen all these "problems" with belt drives, I think he dreams them up.
