Default China made Roketa Utility ATV Review

One of my old racing buddies came over Friday and we went trail riding, Bill is a C-class rider he only raced for one year but he did take second place at the Black and Blue Enduro. He bought and rides one of my old racing bikes, a Husky 400wr. All week long the weather was in the 70's but Friday rolls around and a cold front moved into North Florida and temperature dropped, at 3 pm it was 49degrees and a steady wind blowing making it feel like 40.

Bill took my wife's new Discovery 300 ATV, I told him not to baby it cause its still under warrantee so ride it hard. We headed out to the trail, I'm lucky I live in an area where the trails start about 1 mile down a county dirt road from my house. We were gone for about 3-4 hours, when we returned I asked Bill what he thought of the quad and I told him to be honest. He said, to be honest I thought it was going to be a piece of crap but its built pretty tough yet it had plenty of power. I never had a problem in any of the nasty areas. The only issue I had throughout the ride was my knee kept hitting the shifter other than that it was great. I should point out Bill is a big guy, he's about 6' 1" and weights about 230 pounds.

Now all you brand name quad guys don't go crazy. I'm posting this information simply to help people who are interested in a China made Discovery 300 ATV, its just another opinion. I couldn't find any information about these quads before I bought mine, I simply took a chance but I lucked out and found a good one. Again, I'm not speaking about any other brand ATV or any other China made machine just the Discovery 300. Also, I'm not a dealer.

What a great day today was, its sunny with the temperature around 70 I figured I would take the quad for a ride. I headed for my normal trail loop after completing about 20% I came across 9 other quads using the trail. We all hooked up, what a blast, beautiful sunny skies, swamp maple in full color and a trail of quads rumbling through the woods. Turns out these guys hook up most Sundays for a fun day of trail riding. I was happy to meet them, nice friendly bunch all of whom were on utility quads. This is my first quad and I've got to say, it is a blast! Much easier to ride than a dirt bike and you can enjoy the views because being on 4 wheels allows you to relax a little more. Great Day!

Gotta agree with you 81, there is nothing else that really comes close to a Sunday ride through the trails. We did so today, but instead of 70 degree temps, ours were more like 45. But it wouldn't matter if it was -10, it would not stop me as long as the quad starts, and I would have just as much fun. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you ride Jap, China, or whatever. The satisfaction is all the same.

A buddy at work has one of these Roketa s it is a 250 and he gave $2400 for it about a year ago
and he loves it.He doesnt ride hard and it has held up good.
But a 200 Bayou for over $4000 get real. They sell for less than $3k anywhere.

Hey Loco people,
I've been out 4 a while. All this bickering about china vs. Jap quads. For those of u who remember, i purchased a 06 Jetmoto 150 in July ($1300) after doin some research on China made quads. It wasnt fast enough or big enough for me. So, i did some more research. I then purchased a Viva 250 apache baja raptor ($2200) from Viva motor sports in Vernon in September. Very Nice quad. Its clone of a Honda trx450r no bull! And yes engine parts do say Japan made. Its made very strong. its Awsome. I've taken it on some rough trails and jumps and it holds its own. As w/ all atv's ive had u do have to access bike after a good run & its usually Plastics nuts & bolts that r loose. Not so for the Jetmoto. It just seems to have cheap parts on it including nuts & bolts. The reverse gear box has broken in half. I handed it over to the misses after the new Viva Quad. i may even sell it. and get her a utility quad. At this point i will say after my time and research. I should have listened to some of U guys w/ Japan made quads. If i could do it all over again i'd get a honda. As always in my life Live & learn. JAH out.

now this conversaion is fun!! I too have a cheap quad (Hi Bird 250 $995). I have to admit when I first bought it I thought the quality was not great. I've had it for about 6 months and I beat it pretty hard and have not broken it yet even thought I have tired. When I was younger, I had a Banshee, quadzilla 500, a Suzuki 250, and the Suzuki 230. you guys are going to think I am nuts, but this hi bird is the funnest quad I have ever had and it definatly starts easier than my old ones. It is so cheap that if I break it I can just buy another one. There are times I wish it was faster but I do not race but it gets me around failry fast and again it is so cheap that buying another one is less than the price I usually pay for upgrades on the other quads. Heck if you don't like the chinese quads then it is simple...don't buy one. For me I'll stick with the chinese. I agree with 81, you cannot buy any jap quads for less than 4K (and that is the cheap one).

Angry Roketa ATV-87

Never buy a Roketa ATV. I have a Roketa ATV-87. It is the biggest piece of **** ever. I bought it a couple years ago and the problems with it started even before i got it. First it took for ever to deliver, about 3 months. Than when i got it i had to put it together myself and than i figured out that some of the bolts that came with it had a different thread than the nuts. so i had to go and buy some other bolts. When i finally got it to ride, after 3 rides there was already a big crack in the rear axle. So i took pictures of it and took it apart to repair it. So than I mailed the pictures with information to roketa for a new axle. First i thought that I wouldn't have to pay for it but there costumer support sucks and i didn't get my part for free although i have a 6 months warranty. So i told them okay whatever, i will just pay for it. But than the next problem came. They didn't have the right parts so they said that they would order it and sent it to me. I waited 2 months and than i mailed them again. They said that they still didn't have it so i waited 1 more month and mailed them again. I didn't get a mail back within 2 weeks so i mailed them again. and i stil didn't get mail back so i guess they are not going to help me and now im stuck with a broken Roketa ATV-87 and wasted 2500 dollar. thats why you should never buy a Roketa ATV. So now i bought some other atv's and they run just fine and don't have any problems with them. My Suzuki king quad 750 axi is perfect and My sons Yamaha wolverine 350 is a nice atv for him. Those atvs were way more expensive but that is worth it because they are way better and they will run for years and not only for 3 rides.

You are either smoking something or have a vested interest in Roketa.

I paid right around $3200 out the door, tax included on my bulletproof Honda Recon a few years back. Price is dang near the same on those to this day.
Chinese bikes are not made up to any standards and generally have no regulations or inspections to get them out the door and over here.
Talk to me in 20 or 30 years when the Honda is still going strong and we all know the China quad will be long gone. Chinese quads are borderline dangerous in my opinion and I certainly would not want to ride one at speeds of 50 MPH. They are not built well enough to trust your personal safety like that.
I'm in Southern IL your sense of politics and four wheeler prices is warped.
