In the market for new tires
#1
In the market for some new shoes for the 2002 King Quad 300 any Recommendations , Mostly Towing on Hard packed Surfaces
$70 a tire would be my Max , I like the big horns but there too much $$ to spend on something that will get thrashed ..LOL
Lite Foots are on my list of maybes so are the backwaters and mud lites ,
I ride alot in the woods on dirt trails I dont want to lose the stock tire fealing , handleing and smoothness , I dont want to mess my yard up driving in it either ,
Im having a hard time finding my OEM tire Sizes... FRONT: AT 24 x 8-11
REAR: AT 25 x 10-12
could i go an inch taller on both front and back?
Would that be ..
FRONT: AT 25 x 8-11
REAR: AT 26 x 10-12
?
Thanks

I would look at Swamplites before mudlites. They are a better All Terrain tire. Check out www.traxmotorsports.com and look at them and read about them. Or look at my pics, and there you can see them

Check out the less expensive tire brands like GBC and AMS. GBC makes a tire that looks identicle to the bighorns in the TrailTamer. They also have dirtdevils and AMS has Swampfox in less egressive models and smaller sizes.
25x8x12 are $54.00 Cant find the sizes above
26x9x12 is $63.00

If you like the Big Horns then look at the GBC Dirt Tamers. These are the old 6 ply mold for the big hornes. GBC bought the mold and now the Big horns are radial with a slight difference in tread. Both GBC and MAxxis tires are made by Cheng Shin tire company. I have Swamp lites and had Mud Lites. I like the swamp Lites alot better. I am also getting a set of te GBC Dirt Tamers. You can get a set of dirt tamers on Ebay for $230 shipped.

I just ordered the GBC Dirt Tamers yesterday from atvoutfitters.net. I needed new tires so I could sell my Grizzly 660. I emailed matt@atvoufitters and he said he'd give them to me for $229 a buck less than the ebay people but at least I know I'm getting them from a reputable place....
Also, I would put 25's on the front and back (or the same size 26's--whatever size you want) just put the same size front and back.....

On the old King Quad you have to use two different sizes, it comes this way stock and the diff's are geared to accommodate it. Putting the same size tires on the front and back will stress the drive train a lot. Of course on the King Quad if you only use 4WD in real slippery conditions and leave it in 2WD most of the time it won't be a real issue. I believe the old Honda 300 4x4 is the same way, front tires are 1" smaller.
