Default Winch grease

I have a Venom 3000 lb winch that I bought off ebay for my 2005 Rubicon over a year ago. I have heard that you should replace the factory grease with some better stuff. I was wondering how hard is it? What all do you have to take off and can it be done while the winch is still mounted on the atv? Also, how often should the grease be replaced?

Default Winch grease

As long as you are putting in the effort, I'd get some winch specific grease. Those gears get super high load, and also sit for long periods without getting warm enough to drive off any moisture that gets in there.

As far as how often to regrease, I suppose that depends on how often the winch gets dunked in water/mud.

Here's a page that shows what's involved in taking a Warn winch apart. I don't know how similar yours might be, but it gives you an idea.
