First of all because I can... and Secondly.. there is alot of truth to my statement. Most of the util guys out there are not in it for Speed.
I mean you didn't run out and get your 05 Big bear 400 for speed now did you? Probably not.. which is one of the reasons I only bought a Grizzly 450.
You want me to answer his post - ok I will -- The -08 Popo 800efi Quad will probably go 60-70 mph - much faster than anyone should drive one of these things.. I think it is silly that AC even came out with their 1000cc Thundercat utility quad... What do you need that thing for? to keep up with the jones's? to Race is the only reason I can see..

Whats the differance between going 70mph on a ute and 70mph on a sport?
Both can kill you if you bite it. Yeah they ute doesnt handle as well as the sport and there is a crush factor. But honestly its no different then a corvette doing 100mph and a pick up doing 100mph
Maybe he does race utes, Or has alot of miles of fireroads to get to a trailhead, Or massive acherage he ranches.
I live on 80achers of land, on which I rarely do over 25-30. But I have numerous friends withing 10-15 miles away with land to ride and I dont see a need to load up the bike everytime I head over there. So I dont want a ute that only does 45-50. My 650 is no race car, It will do bout 63-65 which I have done and its not sketchy at all in my opinion.
Do I personally feel a need to run 80mph on a kwad, No not at all, but that doest mean someone else dont or shouldnt.
just my 2cents not trying to ruffle any feathers..

How about just keeping up with your friends? Yesterday evening a couple of friends and I spent several hours working on a very tough ATV trail we are building on private land in the mountains. The trail is super challenging, and the one and only two wheel drive quad that has attempted it only made it the first hundred yards of a 15 mile long trail. We worked last night on the trail until past sunset, and then rode our ATVs home after dark. The return ride turned into a flat out GNCC style race between my friends and I (they ride Rincons and always try to beat my Grizzly). WE HAD A GREAT TIME!. It was fun, speed is fun, ... what's wrong with that? Yes it was hard core terrain, with insane side hills, big rocks everywhere, ledges, drop offs, and crazy steep uphills and downhills. And we still raced each other over that terrain, even though we weren't riding sport quads.

There is a BIG difference. A Corvette or sport quad is built for handling, if you are doing 100 mph down the highway and someone cuts you off forcing you to take evasive action, would you rather be driving the 'vette and avoid an accident or the truck and be involved in one?
Thought so.

As I stated... the sport does handle better, never said it didnt. But that still doesnt mean people in general SHOULD NOT want to know, or be ridiculed for simply inquiring about the top speed of a ute.
Would he get the same reactions if he asked what the top speed of a rancher was? as opposed to asking so about an 800?

I didn't ridicule anyone for anything, just pointing out that there is a difference in the two.

No captain obvious I didn't buy a big bear for speed. Some people do actually race utes.I have personally seen a 650 Brute force with NOS and several mods that beats sport quads drag racing.
