It runs in and out just fine but will not free spool. The free spool lever moves freely as always. This is a Warn A2000 winch. The only problem I ever had with it is that I lost a bolt for the tie rods which hold the housings together and can't remember if I have used it since then but was using it when I noticed the bolt was gone. Maybe something got screwed up at that time.

Any ideas?

 

if its an older model, there is a spring and rod assembly that governs the freespool. i know if the spring/rod is messed up that will not alloy you to freespool. also if the 2 body halves of the winch are not tight agents the spool freespool wont work ether.

you really need to get a diagram of the winch components and take the winch apart... not as hard as it sounds, really
