Brute force vs. grizzly
#1
I am looking at purchasing a utility atv and have narrowed my decision to either a brute force 750 or a grizzly 700. I will be doing some trail riding and also plowing snow. I know the brute force has the fun factor with that v twin engine but will it be as reliable as a grizzly? I've never had power steering so if it had it, it's a plus but if it didn't, I guess you can't miss what you haven't had. Plus, are the power steering systems problematic as the atv ages? I am currently looking at a 2010 bruteforce 750 with winch and plow for $5700. Is that a fair price for this machine? I was originally leaning towards a grizzly since I've had two v twin kawasaki prairies and just wanted to try something different plus I'm getting older (haha). I also like the Polaris 850 xp's but haven't heard good things about the reliability and also the local dealer isn't that good. Any input would be appreciated.

Sounds like reliability is your thing. You cant break what you do not have. A twin has more parts then a single. Sure Power steering will screw up over the years any option will, especially with the stuff a 4x4 ATV drives through.
The good news is,if the Power steering does puke out at most the ATV will steer like a normal one.
Its more of a choice between "easy steering" and "easier steering". I rode alot of ATVs and never found one hard to steer.
It all depends on your trail for speed. On our trials I cant even open up my 350 Grizzly.
The 700 Grizzly is a 60mph ATV,you would need a smooth road to ever almost hit that. Not what I would call fun off road riding.

I had a chance to test drive the BF and was pleasantly surprised at how much better the ride was over older BFs. I'd be inclined to look for a 2012 or newer if I was thinking of one. Kawasaki Rolls out the Red Carpet | ATV Connection
BF for speed and fun factor. Grizzly for a little bit more reliability in a good all around package. If you've plowed before without power steering you know how the weight of the plow effects the steering. I have power steering on my Outlander and have learned to love it. Especially in low speed tight trails and plowing. I didn't think I'd like power steering as much as I do. It's a nice addition and you don't end up with arms that fell like they're going to fall off at the end of a long day of riding.

I would go with the grizz

If you want a more comfortable ride i would go with the Grizzly. If you want power take the brute. It will blow the Grizzly away!

I ride with a 800 Outlander that can,t get anywhere faster then my 350 grizzly on our trails.

I own both a grizzly and a brute. I would take the brute anyday for power. I ride in the badlands of Wyoming. Lots of room to blow the wheels off of your 350!

If you can go over 50 mph on a so called trail then it must be so wide and smooth that I would just stay in the truck and fly down it at 60mph with the air conditioning and radio on, or buy a 2wd Sport ATV.
Since the guy is asking about 4x4 ATVs ,I would guess he will be doing "OFF Road" riding.
We have trials here that any thing over 30 mph will be a quick trip to the hospital.
A 20mph trail will beat a 60mph ATV in a battle of wills, every time. LOL

Well i would be more than happy to see you attempt some of the trials out here in a regular truck. I would pay you money to do it. Did i even explain the trails here to you? No i did not. I was replying to a thread about what i think is best.
Hedgehog was wondering what was better. A Brute 750 or Grizzly 700. Not small bore, 2x4 sport quads. Or small bore Grizzlies. He also said trail riding and plowing snow. I dont know a single person that would plow snow with a small machine.

I'd go grizzly for the comfort and the name backing it. My friend had a 05 brute 750 and it was nothing but a headache. The IRS felt like a solid rear and it was a beast to handle on tight trails. The grizzly seems nimble enough to get everywhere and that's what you really want in a ATV
