I didn't even notice the 14 inch boat. My brain automatically assumed it said 14 foot.

I noticed it said 14 inch, I thought that was what you were commenting about. 14 inch boat doesn't sound very heavy. That sounds like a Barbie fishing boat lol.

Default 1998 Wolverine Review

In 1998, and probably before,Yamaha indirectly swayed a lot of people to think the Wolverine had a Big Bear low gear with a Timberwolf high gear. Couple that with a racing profile and shock travel and ya gotta “no brainer.” We rode every weekend when deer season was over, I was young and didn’t have my own 4 wlr yet, saw what others had, how they performed, and finally gambled on a Wolverine. We didn’t have much internet back then, but how-in-the-Hell nobody ever thought about a Wolverine blew my mind, and I bought one. It would fall flat in any low gear struggle need so much I wondered if something was wrong. I jetted it, piped it, and went back to stock because it was so loud. However, and I mean a definite however…it would outrun everything on a trail and handle everything if ridden right. We ran beagles and everyone had CB’s on their 4 wlrs. My box mounted on the back rack would hold 5 dogs. When they got out of the drive it was all hands on deck to get ‘em back before they got on someone elses land we never wanted so we had to haul *** to catch ‘em, kill the deer, or stop the drive, and nobody could outrun that Wolverine.

It was “said” to have the Big Bear low end and Warrior top end, but no…it didn’t, and I sadly learned the low end just wasn’t there. HOWEVER, it’s light weight got it through a lot of muck the heavier 500 Polaris got stuck in back in the day, but ya gotta know how to ride it.

The marketing made it sound like the ultimate 4 wlr. The Big Bear 350’s kicked but being light weight with a better gear.

We all pleasure rode when deer season was out and put our stuff to the test back then. It was fun and never let me down.

Back then, we ran dogs, and I had a dog box on the back rack that held 5 beagles. CB too. Where the Wolverine dominated was nobody could outrun it on trails to get to the dogs and cut off the deer. I had a Dyno jet kit and FMF pipe for a short time, but went back bone stock because it wasnt much better at all.

But, it would flat out fly on trails being nimble like it was built for, and nobody got to the deer crossing faster.
