Default Eiger Grille/Headlamp Gaurd

Well, I have a picture of the finished grille gaurd in my gallery section for "ssauer40", and Eiger owners, check it out. I think you'll find this mod pretty "tight"

The gaurd I made, it was from a piece of "expanded metal" as its called. I remove the entire front gaurd, cleaned off the pain on the inside, cut the metal to fit, shaped and welded it all to the original brush gaurd, then repainted it. It turned out real nice. Only drawback I found was driving at night, the glare from the mesh did reflect a little light back to me, thougn, visibilty was perfect in front (didnt impair the hedlamps at all). I solved that by just adding a box on the front. Problem solved!

Nice. But why? I haven't noticed that anything can get at the headlights. I suppose if you were following someone that was kicking up rocks... but wouldn't that be dangerous to the rider?

Still, looks cool. Doesn't weigh much, either.

I didnt do it to protect me from rocks, its a utility quad afterall. I did it to protect everything from heavy brush, and yes, not much weight.

you'd do well to put that stuff around your oil cooler if you actually go through brush thick enough to break your headlights

Problem solved, the oil cooler is behind the grille which is protected by the grille gaurd.

Oil cooler isn't in danger from sticks coming through the grill, even without your gaurd, it's vulnerable to sticks coming up from underneath. That's the only thing I worry about going through the woods and over brush piles.
