Since I was gone most of the afternoon I had a lot of reading to do to come to this point. Not much can be said that will add to the confusion but I do want to make my position quite clear. Since this has been, and I hope will continue to be, a really open forum with people willing to bring up any topic for discussion or comment I, for one, intend to approach things from that point of view. While I do not agree with many things that are said or intimated here I will continue to avoid making personal attacks or rash comments. If I feel strongly enough about an issue you will know it and I will listen to what you have to say in rebuttal. At worst we can agree to disagree on a topic. Sometimes I prefer to defuse a situation and think about it for a bit. Some people look at this and form the opinion that I have "backed off" or whatever. This may or may not be the case.

In the matter at hand of taking the gun talk to another forum because one person took exception to an exchange between Bear and I. It is his right to say what he wants but I would appreciate a somewhat more thought out comment rather than a basically "Go Away" attitude. At the same time I feel I have as much in the way of rights as anyone else. As I mentioned in an earlier post today it would be a terrible thing to really restrict the topic lines allowed in this forum. Feelings have been hurt and tempers have flared to the extent that one long time poster has apparently left. This is more than just unfortunate and is a loss to this community as a whole.

I have, as my posts have shown, a firm conviction about the Bill of Rights and Constitution in it's whole. The Federal Papers and many other documents have reenforced and affirmed what our rights as citizens are. Amongst these is the right of free speech and the right to peaceful assembly. Both of these are exercised daily on this forum. To restrict these is an unacceptable option and an insult of the worst kind to all those that have served to protect these rights.

I, like Bear, have taken the stand that to say nothing when attacked on this and other issues is unacceptable. If this forum is to be open then so be it. If not then it needs to be narrow and uninviting. BigDaddy is absolutely right. Some folks are uncomfortable with some topics. This does not mean, however that all people are. To stifle general conversation because of the beliefs of the minority, or majority, is not what I want. If it is what you want then scroll on by what you want to hide from. That is your right and an easy option to exercise. For my part I intend to stand by my convictions and voice my opinion. All I ask is to be treated the same as everyone else in this regard and not be ask, or ordered, to shut up.

End of Rant.

Hey there OneFly. While reading all the posts for today you made some comments about the group you are privileged to share some special time with. In one of my positions with King County I had the opportunity to do quite a bit of work at a Rehab Facility. After spending some time with the management and counselors of that facility I was convinced the fences were in the wrong places. I did attend some meetings there and some of those visiting folks were brutal.

At any rate, it is an unfortunate fact of life that the counselor is in charge and can make or break you in a heartbeat. Enjoy your time with the group, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

just thought id throw in some humor for everyone

SENIORS HALLOWEEN:

An old couple who hadn't celebrated Halloween in a long time decided to
dress up and go out.

The old woman went into her bedroom, stripped naked and tied a lemon
between her legs. When she came out the old man cried, "You can't go
out like that!"

She said, "I can go anyway I like and so can you."

Whereupon he retired to the bedroom and came out stark raving naked with a potato tied to his tallywhacker.

The old woman says, "You're going out like that?"

"Yep, if you can go as a sour-puss, I can go as a dick-tator."
