Even if the quad was titled in Washington, you still would have to pay sales tax.

This happened exactly a mile from my house. http://www.kirotv.com/news/10998964/detail.html (WHY DOESN'T THE LINK BUTTON EVER WORK)

I drive by this house to and from work. When I went by this house this morning at 5:20 there wasn't a cop at this house. I passed the first cop acouple hundred feet down the road.
WQ if you link button aint working look in the lower left corner of your exploder.. you will see a yeller triangle.. just click refresh and all your buttons will work

Believe you are the first I have known to be checked on the trails in the past couple of years. Lucky she decided to let you go, that could have been expensive. Dang sure gonna re-up my tags again. I'm too chicken to take those chances. Wonder if it's like being on the road and they can impound the vehicle? Far as I know the only time you don't pay sales tax on a title transfer is a gift within a family. Father to daughter or something like that.

i dont think they would impound the vehicle just fines. and most of the time we rode on the other side of the road on private land there are good trails over there to....and less ruts

You can gift a vehicle to anyone you want. It doesn't need to be family. However, a gifted vehicle can never be gifted again.
