Hello, and wheeew! For the first time in my life, I may be burnt out from quads. It started a work party March 13, Goldendale practice March 20th, work party March 27th, work party April 3rd, Florence from April 12th to the 18th, Goldendale GP April 25th, and the Second Annual Tahuya Tangle yesterday. It's been fun, but man I'm tired and whiney. I probably won't ride too much until a month from now or so. My yard looks like a flippin' jungle, and my garage looks like a bad episode from Sanford and Son, dirty quads and all. So that is my story, and that's where I've been. (Although after catching up on the forum reading, I didn't see anyone ask!) I've got bigger tears than Sean!
What I really wanted to post about, was to say "THANK YOU" to everyone who attended our poker run. The official count came to 282 quads. It was awesome to see everyone come out and camp friday and saturday night. I would also like to apologize to my friends who I barely, or never got the chance to talk to at all. I spend the entire time having one minute conversations for about a 24 hour period. I forgot just how many people I've come to know in the ATV community. I also forgot just how much I like everone I've come to meet both from the forums, past events, or on dune trips.
The event was a huge success. Even without max entries, we raised $300 dollars for the United Way, sold out of our event t-shirts, and I didn't talk to anyone with a single complaint. We also saw a lot of people helping out their fellow riders either to tow quads back, fix broken down quads, attend to injuries, give other riders rides out of the forest, drive vehicles for one injured guy, and saw nothing but smiles. We even teased one poor girl leaving tech inspection about her grin and getting dust in her teeth.
I also would like to personally thank Quad4Fun for helping out with the EMT duties and coming through with those great radios. Everything Sean did was a gigantic help. I would also like to thank Happaroadcrosser for working his first poker run instead of riding. I know he was looking forward to riding it. I hope you got enough pizza buddy!
It was nice to see Bing, Cheech, King, Nickli, JoelRichard50, Jolene, red400exRod, MojaveBoy, and all of the others I saw, but can't get into my head at the moment.
Thank You,
John

Trails, mountains, valleys and high meadows. Plenty of diversity for everyone. Come out and ride awhile.

Sean, remind me to NEVER let your brother ride my quad. At least his clothes aren't nice and shiney anymore

There is a reason he finally bought his own quad. EVERY TIME he goes to Tahuya, he rolls something over .
He has rolled both of mine over there .
No damage and no injuries, pretty mild rollovers.
He just needs to stay away from Tahuya, LOL.
This time he did it good though. He is still paying for it. His shoulder and back are pretty sore. His back is also bruised up pretty bad. He's doing good other than that
Wait til you the the pic of my wife doing her balancing act. Little did she know, if she would have just shifted her weight weight up and over the top, she really could have just rode out of it.
But that is how you get experience

Does anybody have any info on the Broken Arm guy or the Finger lady? Broken Arm guy took off after shortly after we got there, so I got no info from him. Don and I like to check up on folks we have contact with, to see how they are feeling/recovering. If you do, please e-mail it to me. Taht would be great

It's interesting here; we drive more in the winter than summer here. Our lakes freeze trails freeze and the snow typically doesn't get too deep. In the winter our trails are the smoothes but you have to be dressed for it that's all. This year is the first year in about 5 years we were literally snow bound. It was about a four weeks before we had some trails reopened after about 4 feet of snow in 48 hours. I went and bought the snow trax for my atv so I could open the trails since we don't have a trail network with groomers etc... A lot of people here don't even have snow mobiles because the winter season for them is short. I have never drove an ATV on a dune before.... some day. I'm a trail rider don't really care for logging roads but I will take em to get to a trail.

JohnBoy,
AGAIN, THANK YOU GUYS. You Club truly pulled off a good event. As I said on your club site, the actual Poker Run is kinda the exclamation point of the event. The other part is the camping, talking, helping, BSing, meeting others, and just hanging out with the other great people we meet through this great sport. That makes is a truly great event.
You are more than welcome for my help. I'm just glad Mojave Boy and I were there able to help out at the last minute. We love doing that stuff. We both wish we could have been more prepared for you, but we made due. The lack of injuries sure helped out to. I hope we are fortunate enough to help you out again next time. We learned a lot that we can do to be prepared to help the injured as quickly as possible next time. One is how to not bail on our wives and leave them by themselves as we blaze away down the trail, they were such a trooper. LOL.
We will get together a first aid/survival class that is geared towards what to do for folks out on the trail. That will be fun class for all.
