Dealers are involved in the Sugar Creek plans.
A casino will bring more revenue than a ATV park,,, sorry but that is fact.
Also, getting the land is very costly and the legally issues,, NO DEALER in the city would want that headache.
Yall know how stupid some ATV riders are, Would you want to take legal responsiblity for these Idiots?

What I don't understand is the legal issues? Two reasons. First, can some lawyer some where come up with language that can be placed on a big sign at the entrace that basically says... ride at your own risk? If that doesn't work, create a corporation to do nothing but "manage" the park, wouldn't that cover the dealers exposure? If all of the Kansas City Area ATV dealers kicked in $2k each, that should cover the creation of the corporation. Stick someone in a travel trailer like they do at county owned camping areas to collect the $5 each to go for ongoing maintenance and management fees.

My $0.02

I have a few friends that won't buy an ATV because there is no place to ride that is close. If dealers could get together and HELP open up a decent park in town then they would have A LOT more sales. I know that it is not an easy task to open a park or it would be done already. But a little sponsorship can go a long way. Look at all the off-road parks in the country....several have Corporate sponsors. I am in the decal business and would be willing to donate a large sign for a park in exchange for a small advertisement on the sign. I would think dealers would feel the same way if they could donate some "elbow grease".

And the insurance thing I am a little confused about. Are State parks not concerned about things like this? The 3 main place I go (Perry, Deepwater and Little Sahara) don't really have any regulations. You can ride 2-up, no helmet, etc. but I don't see any signs that say "ride at your own risk". The first 2 parks don't even charge to ride. How does insurance work on a state park compared to a private park? Insurance seems to be one of the main problems with getting a park together.

I thought the city of Sugar Creek voted down having a casino built there a few years ago. Maybe i'm wrong but i thought they didn't want one there so they built one up north. I have come close to selling all of our quads many times before because i hate to travel so far to ride. Once we get to where we are going we have to unload ride for what few hours are left then load up to come home. I know my kids would love to ride every weekend but it's just not possible when there isn't a riding area close by. We stopped by La Benite saturday and tried to figure out just where they would actually have the trails. Maybe south of the park? Jeff

Tiffany Springs is still off limits to ANYTHING with a motor.... recently there has been a lot of ATV traffic tearing up some of the mountain bike trails/stunts. Being from the mountain bike community, I'm not exactly thrilled about this, especially considering I'm the one who built everything out there..... people are really starting to get pissed about the illegal traffic in TSP. I couldn't honestly care any less if ATV's are riding the south side of brush creek illegally, but as soon as they cross over onto the north side and start tearing up my stunts, that's where I have a problem. If anyone has ridden out there in the past few days, they will notice that quite a bit has changed to one of the favorite ATV areas....... retaliation isn't fun to deal with.

A new park was just opened up over off of 291 for ATVs and Motorcycles, I would suggest using that area and staying away from Tiffany Springs.... riding TSP illegally is only making the case against you stronger.
I know this is an old thread, but I was checking on the status of TSP becoming an ORV park, and ran across this post. You, my friend, are a whiny *** crybaby who wouldn't have a trail system to ride your mountain bike on if it weren't for the ATV'ers who created these trails. I practically fell out of my chair and rolled across the floor when I read where you "built everything out there". What a f*%king joke! I have lived in this area for 20 years and live close enough to TSP to ride my 4-wheeler there from my house. I have been riding ATV's at TSP all this time. Nobody ever cared about ATV riding at TSP until you and your fellow whiny *** mountain bike riders and horseback riders discovered what an awesome trail system the ATV'ers had created. I'm sure you are probably one of the few who whined to the city and got the area shut down to motorized vehicles. I suppose horses crapping all over the place is not considered an environmental issue. I guess its also not possible for mountain bikes with their knobby tires and horses climbing up and down the hills to create paths and cause soil erosion, huh? And, your officer whatever is no better than you. Its perfectly o.k. for the police to bring their 4-wheelers and ride. I suppose they have special tires that don't touch the ground. How nice for the KCMO police. They now have their own private 1,000 acre riding area, complete with an established trail system. This whole TSP issue and people like you have totally pissed me off! I hope you enjoy the area as you have ruined it for the rest of us, the people that spent their time and labor establishing the trails in the first place. Maybe I'll start complaining to the city that the mountain bikers and horseback riders are littering the area and see if we can't get it closed to everyone.
