My wife and I took a short drive today and went to the 291 area and as of right now it is NOT open. From what I see it's like TSP area in which you can see where they are riding but all the signs say the same thing no motor vechiles on grass. The place in which I said was up north is located near Cameron Mo. it's not really for any trail riding but they do have a nice track. I was able to take my sons around the trails which like I said not at all like Deepwater, they are nice and smooth and little to no mud puddles.

Anyone who breaks the law with their quad deserves what they get. I follow the rules an regs wherever I ride.
I'm sure your bikes' plenty fast, for a bicycle. The only, ONLY, place your gonna be faster than any quad is where an ATV wont fit. I run 40+ uphill, not down. Have you ever rode a quad? I've rode a bicycle and it sucks! Pedal, pedal, pedal, pedal some more. My bike has a, m o t o r, m o t o r. Technology is an amazing thing.
Dont worry I'm not done, I'll be back.

Just a little update on Deepwater, lake down 15ft or better, most of the trails or mud puddles low or dried up. I went there today so I could ride without having to look over my shoulder, It only took me 2 hours travel time, 50 bucks in gas, and a day off of work. but hey I did not tresspass/ the sour taste in my mouth is that I can ride my ATV to TSP in a matter of Minutes, some of us respect the law. Ya all remember that when you go labeling all ATV riders.. I am in no way a saint, but not all of us are doing wrong.

You will want to take I-35 north to the 36 Hiway exit, turn right (east) and drive about 7-9 miles and there will be a sign on the left hand side, saying somthing about motorcross with a painted picture of a motorbike on it, I believe you turn at the sign which leads to a town, about 1 mile down road, go thru town following main road out the road is a 2 lane road, this goes about 3 miles and then slow down or you'll pass your turn to enter.. the entrance to this place is about a car width wide. if I remeber there is a $3.00 fee but I talked to the owner and he let me ride for free my first time.
I'm sorry I can't remeber the name of this place, I'm sure some one knows it. there is also a web page that shows a airal view of it and the track. there is also race dates which I don't recommmed going on if you want to ride around...sorry best i can do............

The last I read the place had been closed. Something about the neighbors suing the owner over noise. As they say, call before you haul.
Later...

THE ATV PARK OFF OF 291 AND THE MISSOURI RIVER IS NOT OPEN YET!
Big casinos plan on building in the area and the City of Sugar Creek will wait to see what they do first. Some meeting will be organized soon. I will post up soon.
Here is the lastest email I recieved from the project cordinators
Hello Off Road Supporters:
This is Bill Haman calling from Sugar Creek. It has been some time since you have heard from me and I wanted to give you an update on the status of our trail effort. The city has put the trail project on hold pending the outcome of a commercial development (read casino) on the South side of the river. The city estimates it will take several months to come to that decision. My hands are tied until this is resolved. There are a couple of land ownership issues that would have to be resolved also. On a positive note, we have found an insurance carrier that will provide liability coverage for the project.
The article that appeared several weeks ago in the Kansas City Star convinces me that it is just a matter of time before a riding facility is opened in this area. As supporters of this effort, you have a choice of weather to sit back and hope it will happen or to organize and make it happen. I would suggest that you organize several meetings and form a "not for profit" to assist Sugar Creek or Kansas City in the design and construction of a facility. The Polaris grant deadline is fast approaching and a grant application should be submitted to pay legal fees to set up the organization. I would be willing to set up the first meeting to get this process started but someone would have to take it from that point.
I have developed a data base that I will share with you to provide contact information for interested parties.

That doesn't sound to good I'm a little confused what the trails at Sugar Creek are. Is that referring to the trails that were going in at La Benite Park?
On a personnal note, I'd rather have ATV trails than a new casino (cause we already have them in Kansas City)

I don't have the time to lead the charge, but would be willing to help out in any support role.
I wonder why the atv dealers in this city don't pull their head out and take the lead in this. Financially, they stand to do very well with a legal place to ride close in the city.
