Kansas City, Missouri - Tiffany Springs Park

Gemini: I am not siding with 1sik but I do kinda understand where he is coming from. You can ride a bike just about anywhere but we can't legally ride an ATV anyplace within an hour of KC. There are SO MANY atv riders in the KC area and yet we don't have a single place to ride.....I didn't know that the place off 291 was even open yet for atv's. I wish I could find more info. on this as I just heard about it the other day.
I rode at Tiffany Springs years ago before they started posting signs. We even unloaded right in front of a cop that told us we weren't supposed to be there but let us ride anyway. But she said that we help out since many stolen cars were being dumped back there.....we could report anything we see. This was a great place to ride with all kinds of terrain.
And 1sik: I DO agree with Gemini with the idea of a few bad people ruin it for the rest of us. This park will never happen if they see us ATV'ers as bad people that have no repect for the law.

Dont get so dern rowdy snickets, Im allowed to have an opinion. I really dont appreciate you referring to myself as a trespasser, I dont ride in illegal areas and I never have. Not everone who owns an ATV breaks the law with it. Sounds like prejudice. Office Lazano can worry about catchin killers and pervs.
There will always be those "few bad people". Anyone who thinks thats going to go away because a riding area opens up, is wrong. Once they quit riding on the precious "Mountain" bike trails the ATV haters will find something else to btch about.
"oh,..there destroying the land. Which wouldent happen if a proper maintance schedule was developed. Which could allow the pedal pushers and ATVers to use the same land. Holy crap what a concept. I guess the cyclists are to scared or to snobby to share land.
"oh,..their pipes are too loud. No one seem to complain about the Nascar and Drag racing. More money in it for those who make the rules I guess.
I suppose sinckets, your one of those guys who still thinks ATVs do like 25 MPH, I read in another thread that was one of the reasons ATVs werent allowed on the streets in one state. You dont know me, so saying you can pedal your bicycle faster than my quad, I think your officer friend needs to search you for whatever youve been smokin!

you're obviously stuck thinking that mountain bikes can only be pedaled to a few miles per hour.... there are a lot of places where a mountain bike would be much faster than an atv, granted that would be downhill, but it's not uncommon for a rider on a downhill bike to hit 40 through the woods. Never once did I say everyone who owns an ATV breaks the law, what I was warning against were the few who do, and might be on this forum.

most of us are unwilling to share the same trails but not the SAME LAND. We do have good reasons... 1; atv trails are about 4 feet wider than our trails, making them boring.... 2; atv trails tend to be much smoother since the rocks are thrown off the trail, making them quite boring..... 3; atv trails tend to have very large and often unavoidable mud pits.... which sucks..... 4; not to mention the safety concerns ie: what you like to crawl up, we like to jump down, creating a very real chance of head on crashes(this actually happened to me about 3 weeks ago). This is why you see very very little bicycle traffic at ATV and Moto areas. When I was talking about ATVs tearing up the mountain bike trails and stunts, I didn't mean .... ladder bridges had been torn down and used for fire wood, the lips to jumps had been roosted away, the landing to a drop(which the hill is pointless for an ATV to ride considering it runs right up to an over hanging rock and is only about 15 feet long) had been ridden up and down so much that the rear axle had been digging into the ground because the ruts were so deep. It only takes a few bad guys to ruin everything, just like the first time around.
I never once complained about noise, and if you knew the area it's right next to an airport in an area where no house can be built do the noise pollution from aircraft. So I don't know why you brought up the whole noise thing. Do your research before you start rambling.
and the reason my comments have been directed mainly towards yourself is because it sounded like you were trying to make a case for those riders who do ride illegally.... like you were trying to say that, 'because there isn't a close place to ride, we should be able to ride there.' not saying that's what you said, but just how it sounded.

Well now, aren't we being a little nasty!!!!!! I live VERY VERY VERY close to the park and in fact I watch all that go to the park and I don't go there cause I know it's wrong to tresspass. but what I am not hearing from any of you is of all the motorcylces that tear up and down the trails and I know that they can fit on your bike trails so lets make sure we all get the info right please. Let's all face some facts here we are all trying to do things that get us off our couches and we all have spent ALOT of money on both sides of this discussion on our equipment. Now with all that being said for you (GeminiSnickets) it is a little selfish to stand there and tell all the ATV'er that it is wrong to want to ride on TSP when there is NO other place to ride. Why shoulld they have to travel over an hour away to use their equipment?? I know what the law says but if they cannot ride why should you??? if you were kicked out and you couldn't ride your bike within an hours range of the city wouldn't you try every effort to open it for your sport?? there are wrong doers on both sides of the table here ones who do tear up and down the trails and bikers who have an area now and stand there with their noses in the air telling ATV'ers to go away when there is more than enough land for all..
I have lived in this area all my life, I have seen trucks, jeeps, cars. ATV's, Motorcyles< and bikes all ride or drive in there. I am not saying it is right or wrong but I will be One of the ATV'ers overwhelmed with joy when they open it up to ATV'S. in the mean time I will travel to Deepwater or North to get my kicks. and Geminisnickets I think that you sir need to put your self in our shoes and travel that hour to ride your bike and ask your self wouldn't you risk it for the love of your sport??????? right or wrong, think about it

ugh, I just tried making a post but for some reason it was lost..... I'll reply later tonight.
I believe the new 291 riding area is right next to the bridge that crosses over the missouri river, which is where the old riding area was located.
