New To Alaska
It's unfortunate, but I'm guessing that less than 1% of ATV riders visit this forum. I read your post because we plan to visit Alaska next summer and are trying to decide whether to bring the ATV along. I've ridden lots of places in Colorado and Utah, and am wondering how good the riding areas are up there. I love riding to high altitudes, and am not a "mudder". I've wondered whether there are lots of bogs up there that would prevent good riding. If you ever get a response here and find some good high altitude riding areas, please check'em out and let us know. Thanks!

I certainly will, the amazing thing here is that about 20-50 off of virtually every road in wasilla and palmer, there are trails, I laugh when I see people going to the grocery store on their atv out here but I guess its kind of the norm. Ive never been exposed to that. I hear that there is lots of good mudding and non muddy areas. I just need someone to show me where they are.

Hello Alaskarider.
DRonland here...we enjoy riding here on the Kenai Pennisula. My friends and I are from Seward and enjoy riding the mountains -- This is a great place to ride --- Crown Point Mine / Moose Pass. Check out the pics on my page. Come down..we'll go with you, or maybe we can come up there?

Dronland;
Nice pix! Looks like just the type riding and scenery I'm looking for. Do you ride with a GPS or are those riding areas you show easily found? How high are those mountains you are riding on? Can't wait 'till next year, when we'll head that way. Next month we'll be at the ATV Jamboree in Richfield, Utah, followed by some riding in Colorado near Buena Vista.

Alaskarider,
Real easy to find. Just make a left after Trail Lake approx Mile (27), dirt road there. The road will "Y" - stay to left. You can park there about a half mile up from Seward Hwy. Don't go to the right at the Y - "Mining Claims", did that once, scary dogs (part Wolf).
