Stoddard to the River
#21
I done some exploring today. I bought a decient map book. This mapbook shows most major dirt roads including powerline and pipeline rds.
I went to the Slash-X South of Barstow and asked the guy there if we actully could ride to Stateline or laughlin. Said Stateline is pretty easy.....Laughlin may be another matter but he does seem to know the area well.
I was driving my Jeep.
He told me to follow the powerlines South of the Slash-X, so off I went. The powerline road closest to the Slash-X has a gate with a lock, So I went South to the next Powerline rd. This road had a gate but was not locked.
I closed the gate behind me and cruised on. This road is a pipeline, powerline and cable access road. It is marked as as "Open Route" but no pics of atv's or bikes untill the Daggett area.
Once in Daggett the "open route" signs do have pics of a 3-wheeler, dirtbike and a Jeep so we are legal here.
There are "Closed Route" signs on the side telling us to stay on the road.
The road dead ends at I-40 just east of CampRock road. There is a dirtbike/atv trail that is marked with ribbons and arrows painted on rocks. This trail goes under I-40 through a drainage tunnel that is too small to get my jeep through.
Big enough for a quad or bike though and had dirtbike tracks in it.
I "Think" that the way to Stateline may be pretty well marked if the arrows and ribbons are there for us to follow.
