any one here old enough to have ridden these piles?

 

Is there still a place that you can ride on them? Did they close them or what?

 

the last i checked, there were 1 or 2 places left closer to commerce. for the most part, the big dunes are no longer.

 

Which ones are still open? Where can I get more information? I might be in Columbus, KS next week. Those chat piles look like they'd be fun to ride on.

when i said dunes, i ment the equivelant, gravel dunes. you could contact the city of commerce chamber of commerce. i'll try to get in touch with some of my old h.s. buds that still live there.

 

What fun.. Last time I was there I was still riding my old 200X - approx 1986 or so..

What a great disappointment when the bulk of the place closed down, then shortly after, 3 wheelers were banned..

I have some old 8mm film of Pitcher that I am going to digitize eventually.

 

Never rode a quad on them but in 1977 Me and my mom got piece of corrogated tin and reached light speed coming down one of them...those things rocked.
