Any ideas on some good areas to ride, preferably with some trails. I'm planning on going next thurs with a couple of friends from work. I know you have to be careful about where you ride this time of year. We don't want to tear up the trails. due to all the rain and snow we've had lately.

Years ago, when I lived in Sacramento, I used to ride up at SugarPines. It's way up Forest Hill Road. The trails were quad ridable, and they have a nice staging area. Georgetown has some great trails, but I think they might be a little narrow for quads. SugarPines gets a fair amount of snow, so you're probably out of luck at this time of year.
What about Mammoth Bar? There used to be a nice quad track there, with some big sandy berms. The trails surrounding it were interesting.
By the way, what are you riding?

During the first week of October, I'll be up there for my annual ride through the Rubicon Trail. My wife and I either camp at Loon Lake and do day rides, or we might pack up the quads with our gear, and camp on the bank of Spider Lake or Buck Island Lake. The Rubicon is a boulder strewn, technical ride that's ideal for a 4X4 quad. And during the first week of October, the weather is still warm, but few people are out on the trail. Last year, we rode to Spider Lake before we saw anyone else. If this sounds interesting to you, you're welcome to join us. Riding with others is always more fun.

I used to ride Prairie City, but I always felt that place was a glorified cow pasture.

I'd still rather ride there than not ride at all though.
But I usually ride at Mammoth Bar. It's closer to me.

hey Tahoe, I've got a couple of web sites for you. Go to caldirt.com, look for the link for bokasmo.com. On this site the riding areas are divided into south, central and north. Look in the north section, and click on davis flat, that should give you all the info you need. I'm going there thurs with three friends, I'll let you know what it's like, It's actually the mendecino nat. forest. It looks like a fun place, with some lower elevation riding. regor
