CALIFORNIA Quad Riders report here.....
#1161
The rain is supposed to diminish greatly by Friday and no rain at all this entire weekend, so Stoddard or anyplace else should be great! My husband doesn't want to go too far this weekend (the gas prices are a killer in the RV), but Stoddard's close so that may be an option. Maybe we'll try off of Dale Evans exit. I really feel like getting away this weekend.

Welcome aboard Noty, I'm new to the sport also, I'm sure you will find out as I did that the offroad community is one of the friendliest out there.
Yeah, this rain is killing me too, it figures the year we decide to get quads is the wettest winter in more than a 100 years. I sure hope you meant you just got your quad on 3/20/05 and not 5/20/05. Because I'm pretty sure with the flux capacitor installed there's no room on/in the DeLorean for a quad McFly
We won't be getting out to ride again until the first weekend in April, probably going up to Randsburg. We're a pretty easy bunch to spot if you're ever in the same area. We tend to ride with our good friends & neighbors so our minimum outfit is usually; 4 adults, 3 kids, 4 dogs, white F350 diesel, 23' Fleetwood Toyhauler, Silver Dodge Durango, Orange 05 kfx400, red 05 bruin 350, red & green 05 110 Kazumas, green 05 powerwheels, blue polaris phoenix 250, yellow 86 yamaha trike and a white/teal 92 ktm 250. WHEW
And this is if only our two families go, sometimes there's more. Anyway, look forward to seeing you out there Noty, have fun.
BTW - Stoddard is the first place I ever had a chance to ride and had a great time.

Welcome to the neighborhood.....lol Glad to see another from Corona. I to have logistics issues when it comes to going out because I have no way to get our toys out to play yet. I guess it's the old saying "The cart before the horse" I purchased our quads before I had a way to transport them....lol Anyway the way my family and I go is to hitch a ride with a longtime friend who has a 26' toy hauler and a Ford F250 quad cab....
Our favorite place to play is GLAMIS !

You kidding me, that's freakin hilarious
We did the same thing, we still don't have our own trailer. They are hard to come by right now, new or used. All the local guys; Carson, AZtex, etc. are about 4 weeks out with no stock on their lots. So we use the available space in my buddies toyhauler and rent a trailer to carry the overflow.
We live down the 15 off of Indian Truck Trail, so it's still a little removed and laid back. The type of neighborhood where everyone still goes back and forth between each others houses on their quads & bikes.
How do you like that DS650? I saw it at the dealer there off the 15 just south of the 91 (Sunwest I think), it looks mean. I was curious about it, but I never really hear anything about them.
Since I haven't been out to ride since the 13th. and don't have a trip planned until the 1st. of April I may try to sneak out for a couple of hours up to Wildomar ohv this weekend. Never been there, but I hear it's not that great for quads, but better than nothing I figure. If you're interested let me know.

Doorguy and scoundrel, Have you gone to Johnson valley? It is a large off road area. They have a dry lake bed to race on. They even have some sand dunes to the east. It is located east of Lucerne Valley. Try it. I like it much better than Stoddard wells.

Ive been to johnson valley and didnt like it as much as Gorman or stoddard. Too many rocks! The dry lakebed is nice though but not as big as el mirage.
Speaking of Gorman is that place opened back up yet?

I've been there, and you're right it was better than Stoddard Wells. We camped just South of the dry lake bed, away from the main group of people. Lots of room for the kids to play on their quads without being concerned that someone was going to run them over. I didn't get to the dunes though, I didn't know they were there, I'd like to check them out next time I'm out there though. How do you get to them from the dry lake bed?

I've thought about doing that, getting a junked atv and rebuilding, that would be fun for my sons and I. I've heard of a salvage yard in Yucaipa, is that where you got the blaster? Or is there another place nearby to get salvage atvs?
