He should be pretty close to Ocotillo Wells, right? And he doesn't need sand tires there. We're supposed to go there the weekend after this, but I'm not good with the directions on how to get there.

Het ridinfolks and CE9Aevo, Ocotillo wells is 1 hour 15 min. from me in Ramona, about 2 hours from san diego. Not sure if we can make it next weekend but we should try to hook up out there. It is off the 78.
We just got back today from OW and it was great! My daughter and I went muddin! We were covered! It was so much fun! Tomorrow we will be cleaning! Just part of having fun!

Hi, for the new guy(s) on the block, a good place if you dont have sand paddles is Ocotillo Wells SRVA. Of course there are others but that is where I mostly ride.

I went to Superstition Mountain on Saturday. I went alone but got together with some people there to ride, I don't believe in riding alone, too dangerous. Give me a call next time, I plan on camping there on Friday and Saturday night. Edited by forum moderator.

Does anyone know the best way to Ocotillo Wells from South Orange County. I will be towing my Fifth Wheel Weeken Warrior, I was worried about going through Julian on 78. Thoughts? Going around the back side throught the Salton Sea adds almost 60 Miles.

Since im only 15, I dont really know the names of all the places but we usally go through Escondido, then Valley Center going past Lake Wolford(forgot how to spell it) then go through the Indian reservation, through Anza Borrego state park and finally ocotillo.

You don't go through Julian. Turn left at Santa Isabel, I think it is the 79 or 76? Take that to a right onto the S2, stay on that to the end which is 78, turn left, it's about 20 miles from there. Very easy drive especially if you are hauling a rig!!

Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the info! Let me get this straight take 78 to Santa Ysabel, turn left onto 79 in Santa Ysabel turn right onto 2 then left onto 78. I will pass Henshaw lake on 79 right? Where are some good places to camp? Thanks again!

Yup you got it!
when you get there turn left on Main Street (it's dirt) and then pick a place to park. You will see the bathrooms, lean to's with tables, pick one and park next to it. You can go as far in as you can drive. Don't go down the hill unless you have a 4x4, it is soft sand down there.
Hope this helps! Maybe we will meet up out there some time. I am hoping to do a day trip out this weekend.
